I want to make a white circle skirt with lace and hand printing. Do i need it? Hell no. ( White gets dirty so easily and i'm normally as pale as a sheet of paper...)
Do i want it...yes...
I had a specific lace in mind, but apparently i can't find it...or it just disappeared from my stash..

Normally winter time is my (mentally) most difficult time. But this whole year, especially this summer, is horrible and i just can't figure out why.
My usual coping mechanisms also don't work that well anymore. Any tips for something new worth trying?

And i started a new project!
This time on rather huge needles, 4mm for the ribbing and 6mm for the pattern. Feels like i'm knitting with tree stumps.

This yellow-green isn't actually a colour i would choose normally (it was a christmas gift), but now i kinda like it.
Pattern-wise this side of the back piece is the wrong side, but i like how the pattern emerges much more than on the right side. So probably i choose that as my right side.

And finished!
Although i made it in a (kind of) sports weight yarn, the ribbing on the sleeves is tight, wearable but tight. So in fingering weight yarn, which the pattern suggests, you would need to add some stitches ( or have very thin upper arms).
And i not very proud of my picked up stitches, but its all black so hopefully nobody can see them. I haven't sewn in an elastic thread yet, but i definitely will. I need to find another stretchy bind-off i like.
Other than that, i'm quite happy.
Finished the yoke. I used a thicker yarn than the pattern, so i had to recalculate the stitches i needes. Ended up with 6 repeats and 4 "arrows" each repeat. Of course i made a mistake, so i will have to try to duplicate stitch over it.
As i mentioned i changed the collar to ribbing. Tried my hand on a stretchy bind off, but it got wonky, so i will have to safe it with some elastic thread.
Now to sew everything up.

Sprang (noun)
This is a very old, but almost dead, textile craft called sprang. It's not exactly weaving - I'd say it's closer to braiding in that it only has warp threads, no weft. I'm using some metal rods as shed sticks, and also to keep the holes open enough to be fishnet-y.
My original goal was to make fingerless fishnet gloves/sleeves, but I think the material's going to be way too wide for that; it has a LOT of horizontal stretch. It's hard to tell exactly how much with it still tensioned, but if I'm lucky I might be able to make a short tube top of it!
For my next sprang project I won't keep the holes as open; I'd like to experiment with making a material opaque enough to have some sort of colorwork show up.

I also have a new vintage knitting pattern in the making. It is called "Zelda...persuasive flattery". (Free on Ravelry and Trove)
The yarn is a mystery black yarn on a cone, most likely a cotton and for the yoke a golden yarn on a cone (lurex/viscose).
The pattern isn't hard to knit, but i'm not enjoying it. So i will only knit the sleeves in this pattern and the rest in stockinette.
I started with one sleeve and because the yarn is black, the pattern is a bit hard to see.
Finished the sleeve today. I tried to stay consistent with the pattern through the decreases...well it was hard to see with the black yarn, so it is not perfect.
Started with the ribbing of the front piece. I'm only a few rows in, so no picture.
Finished the front and the back. Both are knitted the same way and now i'm on the second sleeve.
After that i sew up everything and pick up stitches for the yoke.
What do we know about people, who want something (in this case they want to buy something i made) but also trying to insult me to make me sell it?
Strange people...or am i the strange one and just don't understand those tactics...
After years and years it is still soo frustrating when a pattern, which you were working hours on, doesn't turn how you imagined.
You really start questioning, if you are any good in a craft you have been for more than 20 years ( and which you actually learned and work as a professional).

I actually managed to knit a top in 2 and a half days. My previous plans for a mothersday gift fell through, so i frantically changed my plans.
(Yes, i could have bought something, but i usually don't do that for gift giving)
It was a lot of knitting in short time, but i finished it in time.
It is a free pattern from Drops (can't think of the pattern name right now). Sport weight cotton yarn from Buttinette (i think it is called Daphne), knitted on 2.5 and 3 mm Needles.
Finished the cardigan. Took me about 4 months to knit it on 2,5 mm and 3 mm Needles.
My added length wasn´t really necessary, because that cardigan is longer than the usual vintage pattern (which tend to be quite short on me). The sleeves are also slightly longer than bracelet length, but i´m fine with it.
I still need to wash it, hopefully the puckering from sewing in the sleeves will soften out a bit.
All in all, it is quite nice!
And also thank you to all of you, who voted on the buttons, i really like them. In real life the have the same tone of grey as the yarn, so they match really well.
