Headcanon that characters who know the Kudous, such as Megure, Kogoro, or Eri, have just pretty much assumed that Conan is obviously Yuusaku's illegitimate child. They're just all avoiding bringing it up because they're not sure who already knows, and don't want to accidentally cause drama by revealing it to someone who would be upset (and also because they don't actually have any proof, and it would be rude/awkward to ask for confirmation).
I'm just imagining that inspector Megure yells: "Stop showing up on crime scenes! Just stay home for a week!"
I just feel the adults in Detective Conan like Megure, Jii, Nakamori, Baaya, and Mouri deserve a bit more credit.
A lot of the time spent in the show involves the majority of them being treated like a joke while Jii and Baaya dont get nearly enough screen time considering their respective roles in Kaito and Hakuba's life. Baaya especially. Kogoro is pretty accurate as a fool but theres also the fact he know judo and is a pretty damn good detective when he wants to be. Nakamori goes on record as someone Kaito actually highly respects in spite of how he acts during the heist or when he teases Aoko. Megure just plain needs more screen time outside of being a homicide inspector, I wanna know more about the guy
I so agree with this, especially Nakamori is one of my favourites. I think they are mostly written that way to further enhance the genius of the Gosho boys.
One thing that made me like Megure even more than I already did was how in the movie were the tantei-dan, Ran and the others are trapped in an amusement park with bombs strapped to their wrists disguised as day passes (sorry I forgot the name and number) he was adamant about staying with the kids that were about to be blown up even though everyone else was evacuating (same with Hakase), like this wasn't even risking his own life to save them. That was just pure feelings of responsibility and sticking to it. Like mad props
Episode 14: The Mysterious Message Sniper Case
The detective boys go fishing in a place that nobody knows about. They witness a sniper shooting a balloon and deduce that they’re practicing to shoot someone. Conan gets a “cnunculator” code and can’t figure it out. All he has to do is turn it upside down and read 192 Heisei e, the date and location of the shooting. Megure drives like a maniac to reach the crime scene in time, and Conan kicks a helmet into the culprit’s face from a helicopter. Totally unbelievable.
