woah hi!! i'm glad to find another megaman fan ^^ sorry to burden you, kind poster- T^T I was just wondering perhaps how Enker would be interpreted and the mechanics of his Barrier Spear! thank you :D
no problem at all! i will take any excuse ever to talk about my characters...
The gameboy games are noncanon in mindshift. HOWEVER. that does not mean the mega man killers arent included, albiet in a very different form.
Generally i've not thought about them too much for a while or incorporated them into the current state of the lore since i've been way too distracted with robot masters actually this ask got me thinking a lot lmaoooooo nevermind. long under the cut
the megaman killers are not actually existent robots. Rather, they are mental manifestations of sorts of rock's fears involving other robots, often appearing during nightmares or psychosis.
enker in particular represents a paranoia regarding other, apparently kindly, people. situations or people who you can't really get away from and have to anxiously deal with. familiar and dangerous, rationally or not.
enker is possibly the megaman killer rock sees the most outside of dreams. a presence looming over him in apparently-safe situations, either staying in the shadows or treating rock to an unsettling false warmth in his presence. Enker will only ever actively attack in dreams, unlike other mega man killers. This does not mean his presence isnt hostile, however
He tends to appear as an elaborate, animate theater puppet based upon a somewhat nondescript robot master, often variable in features. can move mechanically or not, but always uncannily. Beneath the puppet there is many mechanical parts that wield numerous blades, however most prominently a spear.
as for how the barrier spear captures and reflects shots... just dream/hallucination logic, though given that rock was originally designed as an engineering assistant he may have some thoughts on the subject

yes mindshift grenademan has combat directives. but! he was originally built for stealth and kidnapping missions so they do not affect him nearly as aggressively as other wilybots. Mostly to place his attention upon the things that matter in a mission like that more easily. But yet he is still very aggressive and reckless and freaky. why is this? simple. He Is Doing It On Purpose. no programming or instruction from wily involved. being a piece of shit and causing problems for the love of the game, and of course for sexual gratification too (but thats more variable yk and really depends on the situation)

What kinds of trauma does he have? How does he feel about his brothers not trusting him? Have he ever broken down mentally because of that? What does it look like?
(btw my magnet was a test subject where wily would cut him open a lot. He’d also make the other 3rds watch..)
traumas are similar to the other 3rds. however, for the most part he does his best to solve the problem as much as he can, his mindset mostly revolving around what he can do about any given issue. this has its benefits and flaws to say the least...
if he can't do anything about it, he'll ignore it. if what he can do about it is likely counterproductive or not the best way to consider the situation he will do it anyway as he is very impulsive and thinks most things can be solved if you do enough engineering about it; it is hard to get a big dramatic breakdown out of him because of his "i'll fix this!!!" attitude but you can certainly make him linger with his mistakes and feel the consequences of his actions creep down his back and for once he'll be forced to acknowledge he caused more harm than good and the situation is way worse than it was previously directly because of his actions.
the fact his siblings dont trust him much is really a nothingburger to him. he knows better anyway (or so he thinks), he'll be fixing that anyway and its pretty hard to blame them for it given the whole wily betrayal thing. he'll sort it out!
seldom realises how fucked up half of his own ideas sound until he says them out loud. unfortunately he is quite secretive and doesnt talk about his ideas much
mega man mindshift is an au with a major focus on robot masters, particularly featuring canon divergent worldbuilding, speculative engineering, horror of gory and psychological forms (leaning towards the latter, however)
While i am working on developing each individual game, i also focus a lot of my effort onto what sort of situation robot masters as a whole are experiencing, their own culture and engineering + programming.
As well as this, i often find myself obsessing over individual robot masters and giving them their own situation, unique personality, engineering and fleshing them out into something more than one-dimensional kill fodder. my eventual goal is to give this treatment to every robot master (excluding time and oil)... which as you can imagine is one hell of a task.
as this has been my messy little brainproject throughout most of last year, i haven't exactly done everything in order so there's a lot of missing and under/undeveloped parts of it and everything is subject to change. however, the parts that i have developed are often very detailed.
some of the lore i've went into depth with under the cut. feel free to ask questions! i love yapping :)
(green = i've done a lot, blue = i've done some things, red = i've not done much. difficult to say exactly how much ive done for each because theres a lot of subplots, character-specific lore and a lot of the work i've done tends to slot into the gaps between each game rather than directly into one)

mindshift dust cant taste anything. eating is more about mechanoreception and satisfying directives for him.
the directives are like scratching an itch that never stops needing to be scratched more than hunger or anything. not scratching that itch is possible however uncomfortable, but it is really satisfying to do so. combine this with his tendency to try and eat things absentmindedly also due to directives as well as his poor senses making biting things a decent way to investigate stuff further then you get a really really bitey robit.
he hates eating vertebrates that is something he actively avoids. meat and blood is a horrendous yucky awful sensation for him. that is why he hates mice ends up accidentally eating them all too often, not an issue with them being alive or anything
