BTZ-3F “Blitzkrieg” an immensly memeworthy battlemech at 50 tons, with only a single Ultra-AC/20 autocannon for weapons It also likes to go fast at 118.8 km/h
Storm Crow
This is a Mechwarrior Online post that I don’t expect many of you to get, but the concept is one that is easily transferable to other games and perhaps other genres.
I am presently running the Lacerator variant of the Storm Crow. My primary weapons are two Extended Range Particle Projector Cannons (Clan variant), basically huge plasma rifles. I hit things from range. And that? That is the simple version of my job.
I do not deal as much damage as other mechs. I am a sniper, yes. But I do not cause damage. I cause pain. Damage? Damage will kill you, but you can’t always /feel/ it. Heavy gauss rifles will slam into your mech for a massive fuckton of damage, UAC/20s will hit like a truck. But they are solid projectiles. You don’t see it. You feel your mech rock a little and your damage indicator changes color for a given part. You hear a small “Thud”, and it’s over.
PPCs on the other hand, you can feel. You see the bright blue flash of light and the massive PREEEEEEEEEEEEEEW as they impact your mech. You get slightly less shake and your damage indicator still changes, but the fact that it deals less damage doesn’t matter. You get hit and you don’t know how many just hit you. One? Two? You can probably work it out, but one thing comes across your mind after the massive impact you just took. You run. You hide. You take cover. You don’t poke your head out, because that /thing/ will hit you again.
You can ignore the damage from a Gauss rifle. It’s hard to, and unwise to, but you cannot feel the visceral impact in your screen and on your HUD that PPCs have. I traded my damage. While i still deal a good amount of it, I will never be a DPS or a sniper aiming for kills.
And that is my job. I hit things. I do not kill things. I just hit them. I hit them, and they stay hidden. While hidden, they can’t return fire and my allies can advance. I suppress. I make things go “Ow”. The game I play is a psychological one. And while I may not boast numbers like some of my teammates do, my job is just as important. I break formations, I cause enemies to feel reluctance to obey orders. “Push, dammit!” may not reach ears deafened by the thunderous crash of accelerated plasma against someone’s cockpit, and that is how teams fall apart.
Speed painted hermes that I soent a little too much time basing

Shockwave has incredible Little Guy energy. Just a perfect "gets in a fight with an assault mech and then goes for the 'I'm a little birthday boyy.' defense" physiognomy
Ah, This Fuckass Thing.
