only 1 week left for the public to comment on the trump admin/USDA trying to speed up the kill lines at slaughterhouses
this is a move that will lead to more death and injury among a job industry that already experiences more injuries than all other jobs in the US combined in an industry that consistently is FINED for child labor exploitation
previous administrations (Republican and Democrat) have tried to speed up the kill lines and it has been rejected every single time for safety. the USDA did a study to try to prove it was acceptable and their own study disproved them
America’s slaughterhouses could become even more dangerous for workers and animals.
there are two separate types of regulations so comment on both: pork | poultry
i live in slaughterhouse country. the city trump chose after LA to raid this summer was mine. we don't even have 1 million people here. but we have lots of slaughterhouses and are the second largest producer of beef in the nation (after texas)
immigrants make up a large number of slaughterhouse and meatpacking industry employees. would it be a stretch to say the facilities were raided early to set the expectation that if we demand your child work you better keep your fucking mouth shut? i'm not sure it would
no one went to work in the facilities that week
that part of town was deserted
please leave your comments against speeding up the kill lines:
