Are you familiar with busks? They were a sort of rigid support of wood or bone that was inserted into a pocket inside the front of a woman's stay in the 18th cen, but the really fun part is that they were sometimes carved with designs, lovers' initials, and even in at least one instance a poem. Anyway I just learned all this and my first thought was that it could make an interesting accessory or token for stay wearing MCs or ROs.
