I believe that these two birds are a mating pair. I hope so... the thought of baby hummingbirds makes me very, very happy!!! They both stop by the feeder every day!! The one on the left is the female and on the right is the male. I can distinguish these two birds from others of the same species by looking at their feathers and the way they move. You'll notice that the female isn't as shiny or vibrant as the male. The male has almost metallic looking feathers that are very vibrant!! He has one dark brown feather on his upper neck, which is how I distinguish him from other males of his species. When you see him from the front, you can see the gorgeous, pinkish red feathers on his throat... they are so vivid and shiny!! Does anyone know what type of hummingbirds these lovely, little birds are? I believe that these are Anna's hummingbirds. Although they don't look exactly like the photos I've seen, they are the closest to them. I hope that they are Anna's hummingbirds because those birds stay here all year round!! I have come to love these birds so that would be great!! I'm saving up to get a heated hummingbird feeder for them during the colder months... only the best for my birdies!! They are family, and I'll do anything and everything I can for my family... always ♥️ ❤️ ♥️ ❤️ ♥️
