Happy World Seabird Day! 🌏🌊🕊️
Commemorated (last week) with the release of 5 rescued/rehabilitated, critically endangered African Penguins back into the wild sea! 🐧🐧🐧🐧🐧
This is all possible thanks to this imperative initiative & partnerships between several local conservation NGOs, wildlife rescue/rehab centres + veterinary clinics, & municipal + provincial agencies.

Gods of the Spindrift - Double-Crested Cormorant (Nannopterum auritum)
A deity of the shore - it's rocks and cliffs and the deep waters just a ways off, he swims, flies, dives, and suns himself in cacophonous reverie. When the feast is good, it is a life of peace, when stocks are thin, he must fly, truly a creature of seasons and seasonality. Favor is bought with food, but he will take and take and take if he is not stopped with no consideration to anything but his own gullet.
I found a puffin skull in today’s lunch break! I’ve always wanted to find one! Hooray!
