"Kaal aashibo,", bole Maadhob,
"I'll return tomorrow," Saying thus Madhob [Krishna]
Gelo Mothura-y.
Went away to Mathura.
Srimoti-r deho kheen,
Srimati's [Radha's] body grows weak,
Shei kaal-er bhaabonay.
Worrying at this time.
Shokhi-r kawntho joraaiye,
Embracing her friend,
Raadha-raani aamaar bawlen,
My Radha-rani says,
"Shokhi aanoho gawrolo kori graashe!"
"Sakhi, bring me poison to consume!"
Radha-rani-r mukhe ei kawtha shune
Hearing such words out of Radha-rani's mouth
Shokhi bawle, "O go Raadha-raani,
The friend says, "O Radha-rani,
Tui prem-er haar bhangbi naaki?!
Would you break the garland of love?!
Bawlo ki kawmol-o-mukhi!
What are you even saying, o lotus-faced one!
Bawdon dekhe mora shukhi!
Your face is what brings us joy!
Raadhe tumi dhoirjo dhawro,
Radha, hold out hope,
Dhoirjawng rohu dhoirjawng, Rai.
Keep faith, Rai, keep faith.
Dhoirjo dhawro Raaj-nondini.
Be patient, o princess.
Milaabo Maadhob ei aykhoni!
I shall unite you with Madhab just now!
Awmon kore kedo na dhoni!
Do not cry like that, my beloved!
Mama gachhaam Mathura-ye,
I shall go to Mathura,
Aami jaatra kori Hori boli.
I begin my journey with the name of Hari.
De dekhi Rai pawdo-dhuli,
Give me the dust off your feet [blessing], Rai,
Aanibo re tor Bonomali.
I shall bring you your Banamali [Krishna].
Kaada bawdon dekhe jabo,
[If] I leave seeing your crying face,
Ki bolite ki bolibo!
I do not what I might say [to him]!
Awmon kore kedona Rai!
Don't cry like that, Rai!
Dhoirjawng rohu dhoirjawng.
Keep faith, Rai, keep faith.
Mama gachhaang Mathura-ye,
I shall go to Mathura,
Dhurhawbo puri proti-protokkhe,
I will look in every corner of the city,
Jaaha dawroshon paabe.
Wherever I may find him.
Paati paati ghuri ghuri,
I will look in every nook and cranny,
Dekhibo Mothura puri,
And search the Mathura city,
Kotha aachhe re tor praan-er Hori!"
For where your beloved Hari might be!"
Ei kotha shune Raadha-raani bolchhen,
Hearing thus says Radha-rani,
"Shokhi jaabi ja,
"Sakhi, go if you must,
Giye aymon kawtha kohish na, shoi,
But do not speak in such a manner there, my friend,
Jaate aamaar bodhu-r mon-e laage.
In a way that may hurt my bodhu's [Krishna's] feelings.
Bhadrang oti bhardrang,
[Be] Respectful, very respectful,
Sheeghram kuru-gamana!
Now go quickly, may luck favour you!
Obilawmbane Mothura jaai,
Without delay, go to Mathura,
Probesho koro bhromona."
Enter there and see the city."
O re dooti choliio,
Now the messenger leaves,
"Ohe deen-dayaadro-naath!
"O compassionate lord of the poverty-stricken!
Ohe Mothura-naath!
O lord of Mathura!
Kadaavalokasi hridayang tadloka kaataram,
Where must I look for the one for whom we are saddened at heart,
Dwaita bhramyati kim-karaamyaham!
Now I travel, but what must I do now!
Ekbar daykha daao, daykha daao!
Show yourself! Show yourself once!
Daykha diye Radha-r praan raakho.
In showing yourself, save the life-breath of Radha.
Ohe aamaar praano-bawllabh!"
O the lord of my heart!"
Mothura-baashi niye ayko rawmoni,
[Then] The citizens of Mathura came out with a woman,
Dooti taakawro pooche,
The messenger asks them,
"Nawnda-attawjo Krishna-khyato,
Nanda's son, famous as Krishna,
Kaahaaro bhawbone aachhe?
In whose house is he living?
Kothaay aachhe jaano ki?
Do you know where he is?
Kothaay achhe aamaar brojo-bihaari?
Where is my wanderer of Vraja?
Jaano ki? Jaano ki?"
Do you know? Do you know?"
Shuni kawhe dhoni,
Hearing that, speaks the woman,
"Taare naahi chini.
"I do not know him.
So kaahe hiya aaobo?
Why would he come here?
Taare to amra jaani na! Jaani na!
We do not know him! We do not know!
Na jaani Nawndo! Na jaani Krishno!
We do not know any Nanda! We don't know any Krishna!
Mora jaani Boshu-deboki-shuto,
We [only] know the son of Vasudev and Devaki,
Raama-anujo Madhob!"
Rama's younger brother Madhob!"
Bawle, "Taare to chini!
They say, "We do know him!
Ebe shey Mothura-r raaja.
Now he is the king of Mathura.
Aamra shobai taari proja!"
We are all but his subjects!"
"Shoi shoi! Koi koi?
"I accept! I accept! Where? Where?
Tumi jaa bolechho taai shoi!
Whatever you say, I accept that!
Dawroshawne mawmo aasha."
I only wish to see him."
"Gokula-anonde kohe daao jaao!
"Go speak to the enchanter of Gokula, go!
Oi je uchche baasha!
There, the tall building is his home!
Boli, daykha jay!
It's visible, I say!
Raaj-nishaana daykha jaay!
His royal insignia is visible!
Jao Jao dooti jaao tawra kori!"
Go! Go, messenger, go quickly!"
Chollo dooti naam geye geye,
Then went the messenger singing,
Joy Raadhe Sri Raadhe bole!
Saying glory to Sri-Radha!
