               ‘    𝘪 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸  ,    ’    𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘵 ,  𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘳 .   for pushing her away ,  and driving distance between them .   leaving her for prolonged periods only to sporadically drop in .   this isn’t how it should be .   at best ,  he is cruel ,  callous ,  an open -wound              imperially unworthy of her tenderness ,  and the warmth she so willingly desires to share with him .   all that which he would undoubtedly accept had he been a different man ,  with a different life .   but in this life ,  he has chosen to protect her .   

               ‘    𝘪 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 .    ’     he looks into tearful eyes ,  weighty hand coming down to wipe at the falling droplet that cascades along her delicate features .   for a moment ,  he rests the palm of his hand against her cheek and her weary eyes shut .   truly ,  he is a harbinger of anguish            an omen .     ‘    𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘦 .    ’              @mataab  .

rage,      fury,      violence      :      all     synonyms     that      bring      caution.     he      is      war     personified     &&     his      name      is      ares.      he      isn’t      known       to      be      all      too      patient,      no      ;      on       the      contrary                  he’s      far      from      it.      but      ares      knows      when       to      exercise      his      caution.      he      has      lived      throughout       the       ages,      watched       empires      toppled,      kings      killed      &&      wars      (       both      he      and      others      )      have       caused.      he      senses       her       presence      before      dark      eyes      find      her      among      the      crowd.      but      there’s      no      movement       made       -      simply      waiting       to      see      if      she      can      reciprocate      and      sense      him       in       turn.

               ‘   𝘪’𝘮 𝘢𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦 ,  𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 .    ’     weak ,   yes he is weak .   this is a secret he bears in solitude ,  only feeling the weight of it in darkness ,   when he comes to rest his head at night .   he’ll watch it glow in the room ,  a moonbeam ,  a placeholder ,  a reminder of past shortcomings .   assured ,   with time he has learned to guise it ,  learned to build a fortress of combat and arsenal around it ,  arm it ,  teach it to bare its teeth .

               but every now and then ,  it whispers in his ear ,  something so somber ,  melancholy .   his own bogeyman ,   a phantom .   even she will eventually see him for what he is ,  a cowering man in the fortress he’s built .   even she will eventually turn away .   he fears that day .     ‘   𝘪 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 .      𝘪-   𝘪'𝘮 𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 .    ’               @mataab  .

HE’S  LUGGING  A  LARGE  MESSENGER  BAG  ,  the  leather  strap  slung  over  his  shoulder  as  he  maneuvers  inside  and  toes  the  door  closed  with  his  boot  .  ❝  afsa  ?  ❞  shawky  calls  ,  and  his  voice  brims  with  anticipation  ;  there’s  a  lot  of  possibility  riding  on  this  ,  and  on  the  little  artifact  he  has  stuffed  in  that  bag  .  he  searches  his  apartment  for  his  current  overnight  guest                       afsa  ,  someone  he  trusts  implicitly  with  this  kind  of  circumstance  .  ❝  where  are  you  ?  i  brought  the  thing  i  was  . . .  telling  you  about  yesterday  !  ❞
