So yesterday, I was in mid-town on W 45th St, off of 8th Ave, moderating a panel discussion on the âpolitics of Labor.â(Organized by local radio station AM 970 The Answer, and a coalition of local unions. The event was held at District Council 1707 AFSCME) I bumped into John Catsimatidis, (the billionaire possible candidate for mayor) and Catsimatidis said he is still on the fence about running this time around. I also said hello to NY state comptroller Tom DiNapoli, who was the keynote. That conversation has to stay private. On the panel were former candidate for Mayor Mark Green, City Councilmember Daneek Miller, and Milly Silva, who is the executive vice president for local union 1199, but somehow these days, everything always seems to pivot to our new President. There is a lot of action going on lately, but dare I say that perhaps the administration is finally starting to get its legs beneath it, with the dumping of Stephen Bannon from the National Security Council Post⌠It was the right thing to do. Bannon never, should have been there in the first place. Also yesterday the Senate went ânuclearâ over Supreme Court nominee Neil GorsuchâŚ.changing long-standing Senate rules to push the Trump nominee through WITHOUT the previously required 60 votes threshold. Now a simple majority vote with do, where Republicans have the numbers on their side. Yes it amounts to changing the rules in the middle of the game, only DEMOCRATS cannot take their marbles and go home. Democrats have to eat this one, and the NEXT vacancy to the Supreme Court, which will tip its political leaning. Mark Green by the way believes the Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren will be the Democratic Nominee for President. As a political journalist, I seriously question her viability throughout the "entire" country. It is my belief that the Republicans would LOVE to run against another liberal from Massachusetts. Remember Michael Dukakis. #Markgreen #Dominiccarter #CouncilmanDaneekMiller #Millysilva #labor #newyorkcity
