Jensen and Misha are actors. They’re not producers, or higher ups in the writer/producer rooms, they’re not co-producers, or retain any rights within WB or the CW. 

WB/CW deciding on doing the market research for Destiel did not have to get Misha and/or Jensen’s approval to go through. Actually, I’m like 99% sure that they have no clue it happened even to this day. I know we want to give them credit for a lot of things, but in this specific case this is just not how this industry works.

I love them to pieces, I really do. But they don’t hold that kind of authority. It’s the same as equating Jacting Joices to Jensen deciding to toss the narrative down the drain and ignore his directors/scripts/writers. I don’t doubt that Jensen made acting choices at all, but thinking he did so without having approval from the director on scene or any kind of authority is really a misconception of what being an actor means.

So yeah. Please don’t get it mixed up. Market testing Destiel was signed on by the network and the execs. And it still doesn’t equate “Destiel approved”, proof being we only got explicit confirmation in 15x18, years after market research happened.

And with that in mind, I just want to say one last thing: 

Destiel was real before CW/WB decided to go on with the market research.
