Sometimes life is terrible, and it seems like it’s never going to get better, and then there are days when out of the blue you get the most wonderful, perfect gift you never even thought you’d get, and that’s what this recording is.
AMLD is a story that I Had To Write the moment I thought of it. I had fallen for Hannibal through the gateway drug of aesthetics and canon gay-ish relationships, but my favourite character was always Alana, and I wanted her to be happy, to break the whole thing down so badly, I wanted her to win. (If you read my earlier stories, particularly the perfume triptych, you’ll see this). So come season 3, when Will’s exes got the ‘pair the spare’ treatment, and their relationship wasn’t so much botched as treated as an afterthought, I yearned to do them justice. This story was my attempt at that. It also coincided with my own first year after coming out, and so a lot of myself and my own experiences live within it.
KeeperofSeeds messaged me a long time ago and asked permission, and until today I had honestly forgotten about it. Listening to it, it all came flooding back, and I remembered how much I adored, and will always adore, this pairing.
