I have doubts that Amber and Mark’s breakup will go down similarly to how it did in the comics. They probably won’t even break up.

First of all, the subversion of Amber knowing the whole time apparently that he’s a superhero and not letting him off the hook because he should’ve known better to treat her so bad all that time makes Amber look a lot more forgiving and compassionate when they get back together, and also strong-willed. He genuinely hurt her feelings and I can’t say that I was rooting for them when it got tough because I knew it’d be easier for them to just part ways, they BOTH weren’t going about it right if her saying she knew he was a superhero the whole time must be seen as an emotional overexaggeration and not just a writing fumble. When you get that angry with someone it shows that you care A LOT about them from my experiences, it also explains why she hadn’t let go of Mark and gave him second chance after second chance despite it not being good for her. Her knowing shows that Amber is a smart girl, for real, but also temperamental with self respect. She also already almost cheated with the same guy she goes through that whole consideration with in the comics so she probably knows not to get caught up like that again.

Them rehashing her issues with Mark not having enough time for her and making her feel stupid and unimportant would be warranted because him being gone for months in possible upcoming arcs is extreme even if there’s more expectations now of something like that, but they also show in the first two episodes of season 2 how much Mark learned and grew from their rocky period that he caused and that Amber evidently has more faith in him. Maybe what I’m saying is that Amber might be more strong than her comic counterpart and will commit this time. Yet this characterization change could also mean she’d be the one to initiate and, with an absolutely clear mind and with no hesitation, she’ll kick him to the curb eventually too because she can recognize that she doesn’t want the pattern their relationship falls into for herself and maybe they both deserve better depending on how she’ll react to her lingering feelings of abandonment. Even Eve later on in the comics sings similar sentiments to his lack of prioritization of her despite knowing he’s a superhero. It can’t be viewed as selfish either because Mark would think the same way too, so he can’t really blame her. The main reason why Mark wanted to break it off is because he realised that their relationship is on a ticking time bomb, escalated by Eve’s confession that made him aware of so many things about himself.
