Savor the rich and luscious flavors of these pecan and maple bacon butter tarts. These tarts are a delightful treat because of the combination of crispy bacon, sweet maple syrup, and the warmth of bourbon. Ideal for fulfilling your sweet and savory cravings at any time, or on special occasions.
Ingredients: 6 slices of thick-cut bacon. 1 cup pecan halves. 1/4 cup bourbon. 1/4 cup maple syrup. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup unsalted butter. 2 large eggs. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1 package 9-inch refrigerated pie crusts.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 175C 350F. Crisp up the bacon by cooking it in a skillet over medium heat. After removing and allowing it to cool, crumble the bacon into small pieces. Add the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and bourbon to the same skillet. Reduce heat to medium and cook until mixture thickens and syrupy. Take it off the heat and allow it to cool a little. Beat the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt thoroughly in a mixing bowl. Stirring constantly, pour the bourbon-maple mixture into the egg mixture until well combined. Press the pie crusts firmly into the muffin tin or tart pans to form individual tart shells. Evenly distribute the pecan halves and crumbled bacon among the tart shells. Fill each tart shell about two thirds of the way to the top with the bourbon-maple filling, then top with the bacon and pecans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tarts are golden brown and the filling is set, in a preheated oven. Take them out of the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for ten or so minutes before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling. You can choose to add more sweetness to the tarts by drizzling extra maple syrup on top after they've cooled. Your Maple Bourbon Bacon and Pecan Butter Tarts are ready to be served. Enjoy!
