I noticed something interesting while looking at Heated Rivalry gifsets. In eps 1 and 2, Connor Storrieβs chest and abs are waxed completely smooth. Presumably because heβs portraying a character between the ages of 17 and 21, where a lack of body hair is common in cis white men.
In ep 4 and ep 5, he has a small amount of chest hair, mostly near his nipples and between his pecs. Plus a fairly large happy trail going down his abs. Iβm pretty damn sure heβs still waxed, as most 25 year old white cis men naturally have more hair on their chest and abs than what Connor is sporting in those eps.
But presumably the switch to partial manscaping was done intentionally. To show that now Ilya is in his mid-twenties and has more body hair. As of the end of 1.05, heβs nearly 26. fanwiki says Ilyaβs date of birth is June 15, 1991, and the Stanley Cup finals in the real world always wrap up in the beginning of June.
Dare I hope Ilya might turn 26 at the cottage????!!!!!! I know itβs not in the book, but I can hope anyway.
Now I have to go and look at shirtless gifsets of Shane and see if they also gave him a bit more chest hair in 1.04 and 1.05 to reflect the passage of time and Shane getting older. Hudson Williams also was completely waxed in the first two eps.
Fanwiki says Shane was born May 10, 1991, so as of summer 2017, heβs just turned 26. That said, Hudson and Shane are both Wasian. Asian cis men tend to have less chest hair than white men. Depending on whether Hudson got his chest hair DNA from his Korean-Canadian mother or his white father, there might be less chest hair to need waxing to start with.
