1. What’s your favourite genre to write? Just really soft, sweet stuff that’ll rip your heart out.

2. Do you pull inspiration from real life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfiction you’ve read? Inspiration in terms of content comes from books/fanfic/whatever media the thing I’m writing is based on. If we’re talking ~themes and ~emotional arcs and ~growth, a lot of that comes from observing real life and real people.

3. Do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things? Longer. God help me.

4. Do you prefer to write description or dialogue? Dialogue! Because of all the different voices and turns of phrase (and body language) you can experiment with! But I don’t like to have pages and pages of dialogue, so I try to balance it with descriptions. For nutrients. And such.

5. Favourite fic/book of all time? Any fic by Ark or susiecarter is my goddamn jam. As for books, it’s gotta be Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.

6. Favorite Trope? These are some I really enjoy (that I had to look up because I’m not super familiar with what they’re called lol): Pint-Sized Powerhouse, Bruiser w/ a Soft Center, Jerkass Woobie, Cry for the Devil, When (They) Smile, and Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass. To name a few.

7. Are you the kind of person to work on more than one WIP? I am. God help me.

8. How long have you been writing? Something like ten years un/officially, but I’ve been scribbling shit in notebooks since I could read, just about.

9. Do you tend to write more in the morning, afternoon, or evening? I perk up in the evening and like to write at night, but I’m definitely an all-day kinda kid.

10. Do you prefer to post and update your WIP chapter by chapter or wait until it’s 100% complete before sharing it? I don’t quite finish things 100% before posting, but my preference is definitely to get most of it written and edited first. There is one person who gets to read my stuff as I write, and that is my lobster, Bigwilly. <3

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Story: Hands down the thing I am known for is Hyacinth House.

Favorite Story You Wrote: The Influence of the Earth has a special place in my heart because I love Bucky Barnes, and I have a tremendous soft spot for stories where people who’ve suffered tremendously receive time and support in order to heal, grow, and love. Plus I’m pretty sure this was my first time writing Deadpool, and that’s always a special moment in any Marvel fan’s life.

Story You Were Nervous to Post: Hyacinth House! Lol there’s nothing quite like shoving your first baby up onto the internet and waiting to see what happens. Even now I remember so vividly sitting at my laptop with the text cursor flashing over the first completed chapter and being terrified of showing it to anyone.

How You Choose Your Titles: I did songfics for the longest time. Somewhere along the way I started to branch out a bit and pick things that I thought related to a core element or funny line in the story. I still use the occasional book quote, but I think have more fun with titles now than I used to.  ;)

Do You Outline: I never did, and now I really like to use it as a brainstorming tool. Looking at it that way helps me to be less frustrated at myself when I end up ditching the outline and writing something entirely different. Heh.

In Progress (Actively Writing): A sequel to this Reddie fic where the Losers figure out how to be functional adults, sort of. And a Stranger Things fix-it where everything’s the same except I give you Harringrove, Kali’s there, and everybody lives.

Coming Soon/Not Yet Started/Unpublished: 1) a soft story where Frank Castle doesn’t become the Punisher after he loses his family and instead moves out to the country to raise three pit bulls and a bear cub (Punisher/Daredevil/MCU - currently 44k) 2) a goofy-ass melodrama that demonstrates How to Catch a Sicario by posing as suburban dads on a longterm stakeout in Iowa; featuring a german shepherd named Moose and one Isabel Reyes who has had enough of your shit (Sicario 2 - 23k) 3) a mediation on depression wherein Barry Allen builds a time machine to fix his life but realizes that friendship was the true superpower all along (Justice League - 25k) 4) AND an original thing I’ve been tinkering at for over a year now that I should really be working on instead of all this fanfiction. *sweating*

Do You Accept Prompts: Nah, not really. I’m just not consistent enough these days.

Upcoming Story You Are Most Excited to Write: There’s two collaborative doodads that me and Beguile have gone back and forth on that I think would blow everyone’s minds. I won’t get into the specifics, but they’re epic Marvel crossovers that would knock your goshdang heckin’ socks off.

I fully embrace my destiny as a wise-cracking book-toting nerdy sidekick who can probably take over the world except then I'll have to actually run it and who has time for that shit.

In no particular order:

freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose by synecdochic (Stargate Atlantis | Sheppard/McKay | Rating: G | warning: major character death | alternate link) This story haunted me for days, okay, and even now I still get pangs of BITTERSWEET SADNESS when I'm reminded of little details from it. Never have I seen love portrayed in quite this way: mortal and fragile and exquisitely enduring.

A Long Winter by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears (Marvel Cinematic Universe | Steve/Peggy, Steve/Bucky | Rating: PG) Fairly new but I can already tell this one will stick with me. I HAVE TEARED UP AT RANDOM TIMES OF THE DAY UPON REMEMBERING CERTAIN LINES. Great exploration of a bisexual Steve and American socio-political movements in the 20th century.

Drastically Redefining Protocol by rageprufrock (BBC Merlin | Arthur/Merlin | Rating: NC-17) This fic was one of the first epic mixed-media works I remember reading, and totally blew my mind in the way it fitted the characters into the modern world.

A Matter of Time by demotu (Torchwood | Jack/Ianto | Rating: NC-17) One of the first sci-fi adventure epics I remember reading, and probably the story that made me realize that the scope of fanfic need not be limited by that of the source canon.

While the Ring went South.... by Thundera Tiger (The Lord of the Rings | Legolas & Gimli friendship | Rating: PG) One of the very first fanfics I ever read, and it set the precedent for my love of team-building and action plots and enemies-to-friends character development. I first read this on FF.Net, that's how long ago it was.

16:1 by rcmclachlan (Queer as Folk US | Brian/Justin | Rating: M) It was a close call between this and Oneiroi (Supernatural | Dean/Castiel | Rating: M) yes I'm cheating by linking it anyway but went with this because it was formative when I was just starting out at this writing shinding. rcmclachlan has such a way with words, wherein she sears her fantastical imagery right into my brain, it's glorious. Also WHOA RC IT'S BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS SINCE THOSE DAYS CAN YOU BELIEVE IT.

So Wise We Grow by deastar (Star Trek | Kirk/Spock | Rating: M) Another weakness of mine: kidfic! There's also something really sweet and sincere about the way Kirk and Spock came together here, and how earnestly they wanted to do right by their unexpected child. :: Cheating again, but another great fic by the same author is How Many Roads? or, 27 Times James Kirk Hit On Nyota Uhuru (Star Trek | Kirk & Uhura friendship | Rating: G) THIS ONE MADE ME WEEP OK.

Somewhere Back of the Sun 'verse by enigmaticblue (Supernatural | Dean/Castiel | Rating: G to NC-17) This has long been my go-to comfort fic. The familial themes and post-apocalyptic setting are good reminders to treasure even the most basic things in life. I think this fic captures all the good parts of SPN without the extraneous drama and ridiculous posturing.

Seems So Easy For Everybody Else by etothepii (Sherlock BBC | Sherlock-centric pre-series | Rating: PG-13) I love etothepii's work unequivocally, and this one in particular stayed with me because of its brilliant portrayal of a transgender Sherlock, and his journey in claiming his identity, including a complicated relationship with Mycroft.

Hveðrungr's Children by manic_intent (The Hobbit | Thorin/Fili/Kili | Rating: NC-17 | warning: incest) One of my favorite aspects of fanfic is when the author expands and elaborates on less-known parts of the canon universe. It also did not hurt that manic-intent shares my love of Dwarven culture as depicted in Terry Pratchett's Discworld :D

As you might have noticed, I ended up choosing one for each fandom (let's take LOTR and The Hobbit as different fandoms), and it made me realize, damn I have gone through a lot of fandoms. I had to leave out SO MANY, the Marvel Cinematic Universe alone has like 5 sub-fandoms.
