My roommate's aunt and uncle visited and brought along with them some goodies from various bakeries and jewish delis. Lately I've been feasting on the spoils of their visit: corned beef, whitefish salad, coleslaw (the real kind), some of the best challah bread I've had in a long time, etc.
But there was one treat that i had never seen before: a pastry shaped like a horseshoe, covered with sliced almonds and dipped in some nice dark chocolate.
Verdict: NEW FAVORITE PASTRY (some research showed that it is actually a cookie). Chewy inside, crunchy pastry shell (which i later found out that it was an egg white-based cookie... whodathunk), toasty and nutty almonds..
