Did you know that our brain actually rewards assumptions â and even likes to hold onto faulty assumptions, simply because itâs wired to convince us we are right, even when we are wrong? Youâve probably heard about this psychological phenomenon before â Confirmation Bias â which causes us to ignore information thatâs incongruent with our entrenched (and often limiting) beliefs. We look for information that supports our existing beliefs because we receive a reinforcing boost when we find it. Even when we are 99% wrong, the brain will look for the marginal 1% so it can say, âYeah, but you were right about this bit!â Urghh, the human egoâs need to always be right, and the one âresponsibleâ for finding all the solutions, will cause you more trouble than itâs worth, and I talk about this a lot more here: https://karanscott.thinkific.com/courses/the-midlife-awakening-course (link in bio) In the meantime however, when making important decisions from now on, try to be be more aware of any tendency for your judgement to distort reality, especially now that you now how likely this is to happen: itâs not a âyou thingâ itâs a human thing â but that doesnât mean it canât be polished away. #managemindfully #mindfulness #cognitiveimprovement #mindfulliving #assumptions #assumption #brain #cognitivefunction #karanscottcourses #themidlifeawakeningcourse #karanscottcoaching #karanscott #karanscottnlpperformancecoach #karanscottcognitivebehaviouraltherapist #cbtcoaching #nlppractitioner #lifeimprovements #qualityoflife #qualityofthoughts #thoughts #thinking #changeyourthoughtschangeyourreality https://www.instagram.com/p/ClI74Ghj8zD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
