hi mari it's me, the Late Replier. but i got a new burst of inspo for this fic bc of rarepair week so I finally can answer this one. anyways. makisaki is just my ship name for sasaki & makimura.
a while ago I was discussing with a couple of friends that the little we know about makimura is very... reflective, lets say, of miyano? she's passionate to the point of obsessiveness, gets lost in her own head, and gets excited by like, "oh i have to draw this guy crossdressing" or "i have to draw sasaki's deeply jealous expression"... this is to say I think she gets that similar excited "moe" feeling that miyano's always on about. so my hypothesis for this fic was that if you put sasaki & makimura in a position where they actually had to talk to each other, for long enough that he couldn't simply think of her as just, "the girl miyano had a crush on," you could end up with some really fun feelings. (me last night: wait... couldn't that count as forced proximity?)
“Sorry, let me properly introduce myself,” she says. “I’m Makimura Nao.” “Sasaki Shuumei,” he replies, and despite the bluntness of his greeting, Makimura lights up. “Sasaki-san,” she says, “It’s very nice to meet you. Were you closing up just now? I meant to wait out the rain, but”—she looks around at the abandoned storefront—“Well, it seems like you were about to leave?” The words leave his mouth before his brain really processes the decision. “Not in this rain,” he says. “My—um, my parents own the place, they won’t mind you waiting here, too.”
