Everyone's seemed to have decided Madmaid is the ship name for Baxter and Nifty, but I'd also like to throw in "Maidscientist/maidscience" for the mere fact it sounds almost like Mad Scientist/ Mad Science.

Poor Baxter
During his second trip to the store, several older imps and imps with small children stopped Baxter and made his head spin with conflicting information. Everything from which bottle to purchase, to whether or not pacifiers were rubbish or essential. By the time he made it to the checkout lane, his basket was so full he would doubt he would be able to make it home with the imp if not for the weird baby holder a younger mother insisted he buy.
He had never felt so overwhelmed in his life as he walked out the door, a bag in each hand and the baby strapped to his chest. When his eyes fell on the newspaper's advice column by the door, he figured checking out the website and putting out an ad couldn't hurt.
He made his submission just in time to catch the online edition for the day.
Baxter: *In a high voice and holding a Barbie doll* âHey ken! I was thinking about going back to school and starting a careerâ
Nifty: *in a deep voice and holding a Ken doll* âNonsense, barbie. you're staying home and having my kidsâ
Angel Dust: âWhat the f*ck are you guys doing?â
Baxter: âPlaying systemic oppression.â

Needle fish Acts of service
It is said that an inventor can forget everything in the outside world when their mind getâs going on something.
And the saying goes true for Baxter, even if he classifies himself as a scientist.
He had been planning his vision for a new project all night, between making a list of things he would need, sketching designs, researching in his dozens of books. His eyes and hands could not possibly move fast enough to keep up with his brain.
Even when his eyes began to hurt and his head grew heavy he persisted through and kept furiously reading a book in one hand while writing on a notepad in his other.
Since his lab had no windows he didnât see that it was morning until he looked at the clock on the wall.
7:49 AM. It wasnât abnormal for Baxter to pull an alnighter working, his sleep schedule was in literal Hell after all.
But he also knew all the effects of not sleeping and noted it made him sloppy with his work.
So once he finished up the page he had been writing on, he deemed it time to head to bed.
Though his head hadnât even made contact with his pillow when he heard someone knocking on his door.
He almost considered ignoring it but when the knocking persisted he begrudgingly stood up and opened his roomâs door to find the princessâs one eyed partner on the other side of the door waiting for him.
âI was told to come get you for breakfast.â She stood with her hand on her hip.
âIs attendance mandatory?â Baxter was in no mood to eat, even less of a mood to engage with the imbecile sinners that resided within the hotel. âIâve been working all night.â
The purple female gaxed sternly at him. âListen up fishsticks, Charlie is worried about you since you hardly come out of your room, so you are going to go downstairs and have breakfast with everyone to at least show her you're alive. Understood?â
Baxter sensed that he wasnât gonna get out of this with the ex-exorcist in front of him.
Maybe if it was Charlie sheâd be more sympathetic with how late he had been working but Vaggie was incredibly no nonsense as he had learned.
âVery well then.â Baxter grumbled as he walked past Vaggie and went down the hall to the stairwell.
His limbs felt heavy and he felt as if the gears in his brain kept hitching groggily. He wanted nothing more than to just collapse into his bed and pass out but that fantasy had to be put on hold.
You can do this Baxter He told himself Just one breakfast and youâll be free to go to sleep.
At least Baxter wasnât known for his happy go lucky people pleasing attitude, so he didnât have to pretend that he was happy to be there
Making a turn into the dining which was connected to the kitchen he was hit with the smell of warm buttery pancakes and sizzling eggs and bacon. While others in the kitchen like Ms. Morningstar and Mr. Dust seemed enthralled by the scent, it only made Baxter feel even less hungry.
Everyone else piled up their plates with pancakes and various fruit and syrup toppings, Baxter only got a single serving of eggs and bacon hoping to just finish eating as quick just to end this whole nightmare as soon as possible.
After everyone had been served they sat around the table to eat and chat idly while doing so.
The only person that even said a word to Baxter was Charlie and she only said a âGood morningâ and asked how he was doing before getting sweeped up in what was likely a far more interesting conversation with Alastor.
Baxter couldnât help but sulk in cold anger. Why was his presence demanded here if he was just ignored by everyone by the whole table?
Maybe you should just engage with others more. His family in life used to tell him frequently.
Baxter disagreed with everyone there, he had yet to find truly anyone who he wanted to talk with and also wanted to talk to him without yelling to loosen up when heâd say some scientific notion. He learned no one wants to listen to him talk about his passions.
And if that truly were the case then people werenât worth his time. His science experiments could be his best friends, his first and only love, his everything.
He gave up listening to everyone else talk and laugh happily with each other and just returned to eating his eggs and bacon with more force then what was necessary.
He had gotten so caught up in eating that the motion of something being set down beside his plate momentarily startled him.
Though it didnât take him long to realize that it was a cup of coffee, in a mug which was clearly not from the hotel but some cafe.
Cautiously he picked up the cup and gave it a smell. Definitely coffee.
A sip from it not only confirmed it to Baxter but also that wasnât the only thing in it. It had a mild sweetness that came from mixing black coffee with a dash of cream and sugar.
Just like Baxter always got for himself.
The question of who got this for him did cross his mind but there was only one possibility to go with it. There was only one resident who actually seemed to care about him in her own peculiar way.
He turned in his chair to see the hotelâs maid carrying a stack of dishes over to the sink to be washed after everyone concluded eating.
As if sensing a pair of eyes on her she turned her head to look at Baxter who gave her a small smile, then mouthed âthank youâ to her.
Nifty smiled softly in a quiet and peaceful way before continuing to walk towards the sink to deposit the dirty dishes she was carrying.
Baxter turned back to the table and looked back at everyone else too absorbed in their own words to see him sitting there but it didnât fill him with a cold bitter anger like it had previously.
It could either be the caffine of the coffee affecting his mood or the idea that someone had noticed him enough to make him feel better when he clearly wasnât ok.
He wanted to believe it was because of the coffee but something in his chest cavity wasnât so certain of it.
Authorâs note: If you want to know why Nifty knows Baxterâs coffee order, she goes into clean his room when heâs asleep since he almost never leaves his lab and often finds empty or half filled cups of coffee in his room so she just read the labels and figured out what he liked.
Needlefish Gifts
Authorâs note: I meanât to post this but then my dumb computer broke and it took over a week to get it fixed so thatâs why this part is late but since then I hav ebeen working on the other parts to this series so that they are ready in advance, so cross your fingers the next one will come in a few days. Happy reading!
To the outside observer it looked like Nifty was just running around after something invisible but for her this was the quest of a lifetime.
She ran into Angel in the hallway
Jumped over Husk at the bar
Almost tripped over Charlieâs feet
Then climbed up on top of Alastor to make her way into the vents.
After making the necessary twists and turns through the vent system of the hotel she made it outside to the back where the dumpster was located.
The dumpster was her prime spot to find her creepy crawly friends, though this time she wasnât looking for anything for herself.
She jumped into the dumpster and began digging through the trash in search of something though she wasnât quite sure what just yet.
She found many common cockroaches and flies but knew in her heart those just werenât special enough to give to this special someone.
She was no stranger to giving presents to everyone in the hotel, though most of them were very unappresative about it. She tried not to let it bug her but it did make her sad that she put so much time into finding gifts for them only for them to yell at her to take it away.
But as Alastor always told her, âDonât mind them Nifty dear, they donât know good taste.â
In this case Nifty did agree with themm though. The presents she normally just werenât good enough for her new special friend. She needed something better.
Just as she felt herself willing to give up though, she heard a rustle followed by a chatter. A very animalistic chatter.
She turned towards the noise and found a raccoon holding an apple core in its hand like paws.
Nifty grinned a mile wide. Perfect. It was perfect.
The raccoon made a growlly hiss sound at her but she was already leaping at it.
They tussled about in the trash for what felt like ages but Nifty was unrelenting in her efforts, she knew she had just found the perfect present but she needed this hellborn creature nutrilized for her to get it.
The creature fought hard by clawing at the sinner but it was all over when Niftyâs giant needle came into the picture.
Once Nifty had it pinned she began stabbing it repeatadly with the needle. It brought her a sense of pleasure as he watched the lights go out in her eyes. Though she put a little more thought into where her needle was going unlike she usually did. She knew that she wanted one part of this raccoon intact.
The raccoonâs eyes shut indicating it had deceased but she stabbed just a couple more times just to be sure. Once the stabbing was done though she used her needle and made a cut through its chest.
Going through layers of skin, fat, muscle, then bone when she finally reached what she had come for. The unbeating heart of the creature.
Hearts from what she understood were considered some of the most romantic things so she knew it would be perfect to giev to her latest crush, not to mention that raccoons did remind her quite a bit of him as well.
Crafty, Introverted, a nighttime person, hissy, and a little bit mad.
Nifty was so happy with her accompishmant that she didnât even quite notice how scratched up and bloody she had gotten much like during the battle with heaven.
Though Nifty didnât have time to think about it now, she needed to give her gift while it was still fresh, so she hopped out of the trash and rushed back in through the vents.
Finding Baxter promised to not be hard, as he spent most of his time in his lab and on the rare times he wasnât he also didnât tend to be too hidden.
In this case Baxter was walking down the hall which headed to his room. Nifty put the heart behind her back and rushed towards him before stopping and standing in front of him.
While he initially flinched Baxter's face then read as grumpy as he saw who it was in front of him.
âMay I help you with something?â Baxter offered in an attempt to get her out of his way.
âI have a surprise for you.â Nifty was now clearly bouncing on her feet with excitement.
Baxter was initially suspicious; but he decided in a split second that if he just took whatever it is she had for him sheâd leave him alone the quickest.
âOk, what is it?â Baxter asked, still not dropping his cold manner of speaking.
âClose your eyes~,â Nifty sing songed to him.
Baxter rolled his eyes but obliged.
âHold out your hands~.â Niftyâs voice betrayed how excited she was even if Baxter couldnât see her face.
Baxter held out both his hands and braced himself for the unknown. He knew it had to be something that was once alive but other than that he did not know what to expect.
Thatâs when he felt a weight be dropped into his hands. The object was not at all hard and felt very slippery, though a second after the sensation registered he opened his eyes.
In his gloved hands laid a heart that was vaguely warm and very bloody and seemingly undamaged.
âDo you like it?â Nifty was now properly jumping up and down scanning Baxterâs reaction carefully.
âThis-This is for me?â Baxter asked uncertainly.
âUhhh-Yes?â Nifty felt a little disheartened by the words. She knew there was a good chance heâd be freaked out but somewhere in her she really hoped that he wouldnât be like everyone else.
Then Baxter did something that Nifty did not think he would.
He smiled.
Not like that Cocky smile he gave people when he knew he was right about something.
No, this smile was genuine and oh so bright.
Along with eyes too. It was as if his whole face was lit up like a field of dry grass.
âAm I allowed to use it for one of my experiments?â Baxter held the heart closer to himself and briefly looked straight into Niftyâs eyes and Nifty thought if this was how she looked to people when she was excited.
Nifty famed unsureness for a moment just to see Baxterâs face drop with hopefulness.
âOn one condition.â Nifty nodded.
âWhat?â Baxterâs face grew more hopeful.
âThat you let me watch you work.â
Baxterâs smile dropped as turned his head in thought. He did not like having people in his personal lab, especially those who were the embodiment of the term curiosity killed the cat.
But this heart was exactly what he needed to get his latest project up and walking (Literally) and Nifty had given it to him and she still gave him that odd tingly fuzzy feeling he had no scientific explanation to explain.
He sighed then turned back to the maniac maid. âDo you promise not to touch anything?â
âYES! YES! Yes! Yes! I promise!â Nifty squealed and grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him vigorously.
Baxter almost lost his grip on the heart in hands before he stopped her and took both of her hands off him.
âVery well then.â
Nifty flapped her hands happily and let another sound of excitement out. Oh sweet satan she couldnât even begin to explain her happiness.
Someone had actually liked her gift, and that someone was the bad boy of her dreams! Oh he truly was a real catch. Handsome, so serious, just the right amount of crazy,-
âAre you coming?â Baxter asked and Nifty saw he had already walked at least eight steps away from her to his room.
Nifty smiled and nodded as she scurried to his side and began to walk beside him.
Neither of them even noticed Charlie walk by them, not when she tried to say hello to either of them, not when she smiled at the fact the two of them were talking to each other merrily, and especially not when she casted a concerned look at nifty who was still caked in blood.
Needlefish Quality time
Authorâs note: Welcome back to me not knowing how to just sit down and write for more than thirty minutes at a time. I love Baxter (And Baxter x Nifty) and canât wait to see him in hotel season two so in honor of that I have decided for the first time ever to make a fanfiction thatâs split up into six parts. In each part Iâll explore a bit of their relationship through the five love languages and also one bonus fic too. So this is the first one of that series, I already have Part two partially drafted and will probably post it in a couple of days (Hopefully). So Enjoy!
When Baxter arranged for himself to stay at the Hazbin Hotel he expected to be bothered on an occasion by either his fellow residents or by Ms. Morningstar so he could participate in some of the hotelâs activities in an effort to get redeemed.
But what he hadnât been expecting was to have to do housework, such as what he was doing now. Cooking dinner.
Well technically he wasnât doing it alone, Alastor and Nifty were in the kitchen too but still felt annoyed that he had to help.
Not because heâs lazy but because he had so many more productive things to be doing in his lab at the moment, but the princess insisted that he needed to interact more with others instead of being isolated in his lab all the time.
That is how he ended up stuck helping Alastor and Nifty cook dinner for everyone.
Then the princessâs partner came into the kitchen and pulled Alastor out under the excuse that Charlie needed to discuss something with him.
So now Baxter was left alone in the kitchen with the hotelâs maniac maid, Nifty.
She freaked him out but also greatly annoyed him with her endless energy and clinginess.
He had avoided her just like he did with everyone else since he had moved in but now he ahd no way to avoid her while they were cooking so his best shot was just finishing up what he had been tasked to do, then excusing himself.
He had almost finished cutting the onions when he felt a fistful of flour hit the back of his head which was then followed by a laughter so uncontrolled, so cackly it could only belong to Nifty.
Baxter whipped around to see Nifty with a few splashes of flour on her too, smiling at him.
âWhat was that for?!â Baxter yelled annoyed. Nifty hardly responded to the tone of voice he had taken with her.
âYou looked grumpy.â Nifty shrugged. This explanation did not please Baxter.
âAnd you decided to throw flour at me because of that?â
âDid it not work?â
Baxter facepalmed himself. âNo it did not!â
âOh.â Nifty seemed to deflate a little and Baxter almost caught himself feeling bad but he shook his head in efforts to clear it of such thoughts.
But just as he thought the interaction was over he felt more flour hit him, this time on his face with only his glasses protecting his eyes from the flour.
âHey!â Baxter yelled as he shook his head again, this time with the intention of getting the flour off of him.
âDid it work that time? She asked again with a creepy smile.
Baxter was fuming he had no logical response to this woman's antics, so acting off his pure annoyance and anger he shrieked out of frustration before going to chase after Nifty.
Nifty began laughing and giggling as she ran leading him in circles around the kitchen but soon enough Baxter caught up with her and just as they were about side by side he clumsily tripped and felt Nifty go down with him.
The next thing he knew was that they were both on the ground and that he was on top of Nifty.
Nifty was still smiling but Baxter found himself flustered at how close they were. He had a complete view of Niftyâs face and her strangely bedazzling red eyes.
Baxter saw there was cuteness to her he had not seen before. Her wide expressive eye. Her redcurly tipped hair, and her thin spider like limbs all tied together made quite the sight for sore eyes.
Baxter was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard the poised, clear steps with just a hint of static to them which were unmistakably the infamous radio demonâs.
Baxter felt a way of panicked pulse through him. What would he think of this display meanât? The most obvious explanation was that he would think Baxter tried to force his way onto her.
Alastor would have his head if he saw them like this!
Nifty though wasnât paralyzed with fear though because she quickly pushed herself up and him off of her, then zipped around the kitchen with inhuman speeds and seemingly put everything back into order. The counters were neatly orgainized she was clean as a whistle and the flour was cleaned off of him too.
And not a moment too soon. Just as Nifty stood still was when Alastor turned the corner and came back into the kitchen.
His eyes drifted about the room then fell on Baxter who was still sitting on the floor.
âAnd why might you be on the floor my good man?â Alastor leaned down to curiously peer at him.
Baxter only made a sound which was a combination of feeling intimidating but also having no idea of what to say.
âHe tripped and fell.â Nifty replied for him though not looking up from stirring the pot on the stove.
Alastor looked at Nifty then back to Baxter. âWell then Iâd advise you to walk a little more carefully, fishboy, you never know whatâs under your feet.â Alastor leaned ever so slightly closer to Baxter as his his turned to dials briefly.
Alastor then proceeded to walk away and return to his recipe book as nothing had ever happened.
Baxter got himself up and went back to chopping onions though he felt as if his brain wasnât fully in his body.
What he had felt when he landed on top of Nifty was new to him, it was like all the anger he had pent up inside him was washed by a warmth which was reminiscent of a soft blanket.
He couldnât help but want more of that feeling, it felt so much better when compared to the years of isolation and insecurity he felt while being stuck in Hell.
But this new feeling also felt a little intimidating to him as well. Like an unforeseen variable that threw things out of balance, that threw things out of the way he was used to them being.
Once he finished cutting the onions he silently left the kitchen and went to his lab, eager to drown his new feelings and thoughts in his latest experiments, hoping they would be that simple to get rid of.
