Theorizing: What If Cinder Fall Obtained Multiple Maiden Powers in RWBY?
It's been roughly 12 years since RWBY premiered in 2013 (now it is 2025), and Cinder Fall became the full Fall Maiden in Volume 3 (2015-2016). As of the latest canon (end of Volume 9 in 2023), she still possesses only the full Fall Maiden powersβno additional ones despite attempts on Winter (failed due to interruptions) and partial drains on others that didn't stick.
Current canon on Maiden powers:
Each Maiden (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) has access to vast elemental magic: fire, ice, wind, earth, lightning, etc.
Maidens aren't strictly limited to "their" season's element (e.g., Cinder uses fire predominantly but has shown ice, wind levitation, and earth-based weapons).
Powers are tied to one host at a time; upon death, they transfer to a young woman the previous Maiden was thinking of (or randomly if ineligible).
Cinder stole hers unnaturally via Salem's Grimm parasite, allowing her to take them forcibly.
What if Cinder got more (or all four)?
Yes, she'd be overwhelmingly powerful β likely the strongest non-immortal human(oid) in Remnant. A single full Maiden already lets Cinder solo top-tier Huntsmen (e.g., she defeated Ozpin in his prime shortly after gaining full Fall powers). Stacking them could amplify output exponentially: multi-elemental mastery at god-like scale (mountain-shaking blasts, continent-level storms, unbreakable barriers).
Fan theories suggest stacking is possible via the Grimm arm/parasite bypassing normal rules (it let her split/steal Amber's initially). With multiples, she'd rival or surpass Raven (Spring) or full-power Ozma reincarnations.
But too powerful? Absolutely, and that's probably why it hasn't happened:
Narrative balance: Cinder with 2+ Maidens would steamroll most threats, removing tension (even Salem might struggle short-term).
Drawbacks: Overload riskβpowers might corrupt/destroy her body (her Grimm arm already causes pain/instability). Theories posit "too much magic" could burn her out, turn her into a Grimm hybrid, or make her vulnerable to Silver Eyes/Ruby.
Thematic fit: Cinder's arc is about obsessive hunger for power leading to downfall. Gaining multiples could be her peak before a karmic fall (e.g., Ruby's Silver Eyes amplified against a "magic overload").
In a "what if" scenario: Double Maiden Cinder dominates Vacuo arc; all four makes her a final boss candidate (potentially betraying Salem), but heroes win via teamwork/exploiting her arrogance or Grimm weaknesses.
