Havinâ a GRAPE Time: Birthday Boy
Of all the things--of all the people he could have seen today, he chose one in particular for an even more specific reason. Wearing his usual over-dressed wardrobe, King Knight finds himself forcing his way into Mole Knightâs apartment. No knocking, no warning, nothing--and if the door is locked? So be it. Heâd climb the window just to get in. Even break it open. It was IMPORTANT that he see the other Knight, especially today of all others. Why?
â HAPPY BIRTHDAY! â
The words are shouted, and almost like an ecstatic child, King Knight races about, trying desperately to find wherever the Knight was. Upon sight, heâd clung on, yanking his arm, pulling him towards the door with a wide grin and bounce in his step. It comes with no warning that he mumbles something about asking Mole Knight to place trust in him, and not only that, but the gilded Knight had almost taken it upon himself to try and tie a handkerchief over the otherâs eyes--keeping him from seeing just where heâd soon be taken--leaving him to rely on a sense of smell, which was occasionally overwhelmed by frequent sprays of perfume.
It was... Almost as thought King Knight was intentionally hiding where they were going.
What seemed like hours passing was only minutes--a ride in the train--few more steps and words filled with giggles. Spraying from his perfume bottle breaking silences and burning noses with the strong smell... And then nothing.
Itâs... Silent--and King Knight drifted away from where heâd clung so tightly to the bulkier Knightâs arm. The smell of perfume faded. The sound of King Knightâs words had died out for a long time--until he sounded far away.
A laugh, then the sound of something being plucked--chewed on--then another laugh.
Finally, there was something indistinguishable from other scents that might have caught Mole Knightâs nose. Having been away from the burning scent of King Knightâs perfume, the other thing heâd smell...Â
...Was the grapes. And upon removing his blindfold--if he had--Mole Knight would see the grape field before them, accompanied by a man nearby counting bills and King Knight holding a basket in his arms with the widest grin he could have ever mustered.
