One time, as an April fools joke, Babe told Asher they were taking him to the forest where he could shift and run.
Asher shifted in the car, excited to stretch his wolf legs. He took up the entirety of the trunk and the back row of seats, tail wagging excitedly as he poked his head out the window and chomped on the air that whooshed past.
But then Babe turned the car.
And they parked not at a forest…
Asher was already shifted. He had his head out the door, and a few dog owners did a quick glance in his direction. It was too late to shift back.
Babe stifled a laugh, watching as his face fell when he realised what was happening. He was always so expressive in his wolf form.
“Come on, puppy! Time to play!” Babe sang, opening up the trunk and letting him hop out. He wanted to give them a death stare, but seeing their smiling face stopped him. They were really enjoying this. And as much as Asher wanted to be mad, he would be lying if he said he wasn’t curious about would happen.
And how could he complain when Babe was walking him on a leash? That alone was enough to send his mind a little down the gutter.
So he decided to play along.
Asher trotted alongside Babe as they led him into the play fence. He kept his eyes on them - they were smiling the entire time. He couldn’t help but melt at how adorable their smile was.
His ears perked up when Babe leaned down, whispering to him.
Asher gave them a few wolf kisses on the cheek (how could he miss the opportunity when their face was right there) before turning his gaze in the direction they pointed.
There, on the other side of the dog park, was a huge dog.
A wolf with the most intimidating stare as he sat menacingly next to his owner.
Asher asked through telepathy.
A gruff, deep voice responded.
Angel couldn’t hold back their laugh.
Asher took that as his cue to sprint up to him, wagging his tail and nudging him with his nose. His excitement caught the attention of the other dogs, and soon David had the whole dog park focused on him.
He had little chihuahuas barking at him, trying to dominate the huge alpha. He had golden retrievers licking all over his face, circling him and jumping around trying to get him to play.
Meanwhile Asher, Babe, and Angel were laughing the whole time.
