Rosemary is OBSESSED with these little princesses. Gradually, over the past few months, sheās obtained quite a collection. She keeps them in a lunchbox, that is also adorned with, you guessed itāPRINCESSES. It all started last Christmas, when Grandma Cici randomly got her one in the checkout line at Target. She wasnāt that into princesses at the time, but as she watched more of the movies and we went to Disneyland, these became her most treasured possessions.
She takes them to the table to eat meals, several of them accompany us wherever we go (the park, the wagon, the library, grocery shopping, the backyard kiddie pool, you name it). She even takes them in the bathtub (fortunately they are all-plastic and pretty durable), and to bed at night. They are the first thing she asks about in the morning, and when we check on her in the middle of the night, she can be seen clasping a couple of her favorites to her chest as she sleeps.
Unfortunately, I spend about 45 minutes out of every day, finding āLittle Belleā or āMy Auroraā or whoever is the misplaced princess du jour. Because she inevitably sets one down here or there and I inevitably canāt keep track of them because I have real little people to keep not-lost, fed, etc.
Fortunately, these three-inch ladies and their impossible-to-get-on-and-off little plastic dresses can be found everywhere. Iāve gotten several at Grocery Outlet for $2-$3 a pop.
This weekend, she found a happy meal toy from the ā90s of Rajah (Jasmineās tiger) at a garage sale for free, so now thatās being carted around, too. As well as several horses that were part of a princess wedding set Grandma Jane got her.
As frustrating as it is to keep track of these toys, itās so cute to watch the elaborate little games she plays with them. Her imagination is taking off, and Iām treated to the songs they sing, their intricate romantic lives, the parades of them and their pets, and daily weddings of the princesses and their princes (or sometimes princesses to other princesses, sheās very much for marriage equality). They will keep her occupied and happy for hours at a time.
And when she wakes up from her nap today, Iām headed back down to the fabric store, because Tiana and Belle got left there this morning. These are Rosemaryās princesses. Her favorite toys.
