Mini-Taylor Saga
Since I've accumulated quite a lot of content featuring little Taylor, I thought I'd throw it all in here so I wouldn't get lost in everything myself.
I have VERY little understanding of how Rae's parents actually behave. My knowledge of them begins and ends with the "beach episode" from the manga. So I'm making up my own picture of what's going on. If there was anything about them in the original five books, then it would be a shot in my foot, because I have a fanfic in my notes, which includes 30 thousand words, lol. I don't think I'll ever publish it anywhere.
I like the idea of Ophelia being a close family friend. This would explain why Rae could consider Louie to be like an older brother to herself. They spent a lot of time together, because Ophelia often took Louie with her when she visited the Taylors or on business. And since, according to the canon, she was dying of an illness and Louie knew exactly what medicine she needed, I thought that she would be a part-time doctor? Like if a person didn't want to go to church or the nuns just couldn't help, then people could go to Ophelia to complain about their lives, and she could already help with what she could. I like to think that she was the one who looked after Rae's stabilization and made sure that Mel and Van didn't break the "lost kitten" with their lack of childcare experience.
According to my idea, the Taylors found Rae in the woods on they way back from a business trip. In the snow. They and Ophelia would consider the absence of normal emotions of a "human without a soul" to be the usual consequence of serious injuries. It took Rae some time to learn to move "without damage point," and to speak. Since she's the protagonist of a game where the characters communicate by text, I thought it made sense that she wouldn't be able/willing to talk for a while. [Plus, her body was actually 5 years old, but she didn't remember anything except her name.] At first, it would just hurt because of a slightly injured throat, and later she just wouldn't see the point in talking if she always had a pen and a piece of paper at hand. But in the end, she'll talk anyway! Even after some time. That's why she only said 18 words to me in 30,000 words of fan fiction... Yeah...
Misha would become her second friend, but her first best. But the Holy Spirit sees that it would have been very difficult for her, because she had no idea how to help a crying person. She was just lucky that Misha, who was used to the fact that people always look for benefits from a noble, was surprised that someone decided to become her friend just for nothing and in an attempt to help somehow. Later, she would just like her good-natured company and she began to consider Rae her best friend.
I like to think that Louie would forbid Rae to talk, so that she would not inadvertently make a person depressed. Taught her to be a more tactile person at least. Let's say the same handshake was his advice if you want to make a friend.
Misha would become a treasure trove of knowledge for Rae on books + magic, and Louie on communication + fun. Parents and other adults would explain to her how emotions or other "emotional" elements work.
I just thought that maybe farsightedness due to constant strain on the eyes in childhood makes sense? Thanks, Louie.
I'm definitely going to draw on this topic further, but so far there's a lot of stuff accumulated there, huh. I have a strange fixation on this...
