My girls deserve better this is crazy

maey’s arc is all about hidden traumas, of the nesting doll pain hidden from before we were alive. she carries the hurt of another on her shoulders and doesn’t notice the burn until her knees buckle, until she reaches too far and her world crumbles in on itself. it was inevitable that kappa (dear, dead kappa) would find her way to her new life. it was only maey’s ignorance and tolerance for pain that let her be corrupted, that let her erode into a shadow of herself. the kappa we see is an ember, the ashes of a once-bright bonfire. she used to be courageous, selfless, and so, so compassionate, but death has robbed her of her kindness and turned it to stone. now all that remains is the fire that fueled her, that drove her over the cliff and into the blade. she never tempered it, never quenched the rage and fear at her core, and now maey deals with the consequences. if only kappa had known of her future reincarnation’s plight. if only maey had noticed her before she was lost. if only, if only.
