wait have u watched all of critical role? is it worth watching all the eps for?
i haven't watched all of it no!! but i have watched a pretty decent chunk of it:) I'm still slowly getting through vm, and I'm a in tmn rn, and i have yet to get further than episode one on campaign 3
as for is it worth it i do think so? but only in small doses. i can't get through more than 2 episodes a day because they're so long, but they're good background things to listen to while you work!! but there are definitely action heavy episodes where a single fight takes like two hours and it's Not Great ššš but cr definitely has a special place in my heart and i Do recommend it!! there are just some rocky partsāespecially in vm tbh
What am I thinking about?
hello,,, i am once again asking for kyalin hcs...
i saw kya and went SCREAM so thank you for this ask mae
see kya and lin are unstoppable force versus unmoveable object. kya has BEEN flirting with lin since they were kids and it has all been going over linās head. finally, at age 17 kya saw that she was getting nowhere fast and decided to play the long game. you know when your friend jokes about oh if we arenāt in a relationship by 30 or if you havenāt had your first kiss by 18 we will do it :) kya pulls out that. and lin is kinda lonely and her little sister has already had like eight boyfriends and her mom is pulling girls on the regular and kya has always been out of linās league (lin has completley not noticed kya has been flirting with her, which is in part tenzinās fault because tenzin also likes lin and may or may not have been doing his best to insert things likeĀ āhaha ur such good friendsā whenever lin tells him about something kya did that was very much not just friends) so lin signs the contract. then she gets with tenzin, she and tenzin break up, kya travels around the world dating talented attractive women and still being a little in love with her childhood best friend but kyaās playing the long game and sheās always subscribed to her dadās teachings of the values of being nomadic and if she ever settles down for real it will only be after sheās seen everything she ever dreamed of.Ā
then, years, later, very quickly coming up on the mark that kya can cash in on her marry lin contract, she sees korra and asami looking a little lost and incredibly surprised and excited at the thought of a wlw mentor and kya thinks that if these two can get everything together so can kya and lin.Ā
so kya takes the carefully preserved contract and heads to republic city and woos lin. lin is still a little oblivious to the wooing but kya has been around the world picking up girls, she knows how to woo much better than she did at fumbling awkward 16 (though kya was an especially competent and put together 16 yr old in comparison to the average 16 yr old she knew, which is not saying a lot to be fair) and she takes lin on dates and slowly lin realizes theyāre dates and finally FINALLY lin and kya kiss in the backroom of the community centre lin has built and owns and operates herself.Ā
three weeks later is the day the contract is timed up and kya giggles into her kisses with lin and reminds her of the contract and lin is super flustered and kya asks, gently, if lin will marry her and lin and kya have been falling in love for years really, not just the two months theyāve had in republic city, so she says yes.Ā
they have a courthouse wedding and donāt tell any of their friends and family that they are married for fun and a year later they send out invitations to their wedding anniversary party and everyone loses it and kya and lin laugh and lin lets kya pull her onto the dance floor for a slow dance.Ā
š i saw your trans atla headcanons and do you have any headcanons about katara and aang being amazing trans parents to their trans kids ā¤āØ
lsdfljdslfdk yeah of course! also just so you know nonbinary Tenzin lives in my brain rent free and I havenāt even watched lok so thank you so much for that <3
first off, Kataraās a transfem enby (she/they though she tends to prefer she) and Aangās a transmasc enby (he/they and they like it when you shuffle the pronouns around as much as possible.)Ā
after the war, Katara and Aang do spend a lot of time rebuilding the Southern Water Tribe and liaising with other nations, but they also spend time just. being kids. Penguin sledding, dancing, etc, etc
but after a while they decide they want to settle down and have a family.Ā
both of them really want to start a family but also both of them are completely terrified about starting a family and for a moment they try to keep it from each other because they both think that the other one doesnāt seem scared about it at all
both of them are talking to Sokka likeĀ āI donāt know how they seem so calm! Iām not calm!ā and Sokka rolls his eyes and saysĀ āplease talk to your spouse.āĀ
this only lasts for a couple days and they both break at the same time
and then they have a long conversation about how they want to parent their children, how to make sure that their kids have connections to both of their cultures (bc as a multiracial kid what people have said about the airbender kids not knowing their own grandma is deeply deeply upsetting to me)Ā
they also affirm to each other that if their kids are trans, they want them to feel as happy and safe and loved as possible, and outline some steps for that.Ā
and after this conversation they both feel much better, because theyāre still totally terrified, but at least theyāre terrified together <333333
so then Bumiās born and they give them a lot of autonomy in picking out their clothes and toys and such, and explain that gender is a social construct and that Bumi can identify however they want, and Bumiās likeĀ āok. I donāt have a gender.āĀ
When Jet comes to visit and Bumi very proudly tells hir that they donāt have a gender Jetās totally stoked about it (all my hcs are Jet lives aus)Ā
Bumi exclusively uses they/them and makes agender jokes pretty constantly as a kid, much to their parentsā, Sokkaās, Sukiās, and Jetās absolute delight.Ā
they typically dress fairly masc but sometimes theyāll have a day where theyāre likeĀ āI feel like dressing more fem todayā and then they do and they feel totally awesome about it.
I also hc them as being really into the Kyoshi Warriors? idk why but I feel that for them.Ā
Like they read about the Kyoshi Warriors a lot and then when they find out Sukiās a Kyoshi Warrior they ask for her autograph or something cute like that
And then Sukiās likeĀ ā....you know, you can be a Kyoshi Warrior if you want?āĀ
And Bumiās likeĀ āwait what yes pleaseāĀ
Bumi repeatedly asks their parents to let them train with the Kyoshi Warriors
Kataraās likeĀ āthatās dangerousā so then Bumi finds a history book and lists every single dangerous thing that she and Aang did when they were Bumiās ageĀ
Aangās likeĀ ācanāt argue with thatā and lets them go, on the condition that they stay with Suki as often as possible.Ā
Suki promises to take good care of them (and she does! Suki may be cool but when it comes to the Warriors they can be very strict.)Ā
Shortly after Bumi comes out, Kyaās born. A couple years later, Aang and Katara have the gender conversation with her. Kya had basically been thinking of herself as a girl (sheās transfem) but as she grew older, her relationship with girlhood became more complicated.Ā
As an adult, she realized that her gender was a lot less binary than she had initially anticipated, and heavily intersected with her identity as a lesbian
She talked to Aang and Katara about it, and through that conversation she decided to start using they/them as well as she/her.
Over time, they realized that they, like Aang, really liked people to shuffle her pronouns around. Her family and their friends were pretty good at doing this with Aang, and they started doing it with her pretty much seamlessly.Ā
Kyaās identity as a nonbinary woman and Kyaās identity as a lesbian are very tied together in her mind, and she doesnāt like to treat those identities as separate.Ā
Katara tells her how she learned Waterbending from a guy who thought women were only capable of healing, and Kya laughs at the story because in her eyes her mom is capable of anything.Ā
Kya thinks her parents are going to be disappointed in her because she prefers healing over fighting, but both Aang and Katara are incredibly supportive of her, and so she keeps on developing her healing abilities.Ā
And then thereās Tenzin
Tenzin doesnāt really have a sense of their identity at an early age. They very quickly absorb what their parents and siblings and extended family and family friends tell them about gender and how you donāt need dysphoria to be trans, but they have a hard time applying that to themself.Ā
Tenzin:Ā āpeople donāt need dysphoria to be trans!ā
Tenzinās brain:Ā āexcept for you <3ā
Tenzin: āexcept for me <3ā³Ā
deep, deep down in their subconscious, they know that theyāre Not Cis in some way, but they ignore it for a while.Ā
when they come out as questioning their gender, Aang and Katara are so proud of them, and make sure to do everything they can to support their kid as they try to figure out their gender.Ā
and theyāre a happy trans family, and Katara and Aang canāt remember what they were scared of. the end

thoughts on r&j??
I like r&j! I admittedly donāt have many like, strong opinions about it outside of the fact that I love Mercutioās queen mab monologue and think 1996 r&j is the best film adaptation of a Shakespeare play, along with 1999 Titus Andronicus. I do think it is one of the best introduction Shakespeare tragedies, just because obviously basically the entire trope/genre of forbidden romance is inspired by it, so itās fairly accessible. It pretty solidly middling in my shakespeare ranking, but considering I donāt love most Shakespearian tragedies thatās not bad lol.Ā
edit 2025 - I love tragedies I love r&j I have since seen the light. Romeo dream role forever
Ask me my thoughts on things!Ā
