hey, what if i drew Mad Rat

Heart woke up the next morning, surprised to see the cage back on the girl's nightstand. He examined the cage, expecting it to be empty. He hoped that it would at least bring closure, to know that Madrat wasn't suffering.

To his surprise, he was still there. But he wasn't dead. Instead of lying on his stomach, gasping and wheezing, he was curled up in a small blanket in the corner. Along his chest were stitches, new ones, as a matter of fact.

Maybe humans weren't so bad after all...

When writing the one-shot, I began to think about what Heart could've been up to. I can't imagine they'd bring him to the vet as well, so he was probably staying home. Sad cat yowling ensued for the better part of two days until they came back with a loopy and tired Madrat coming off of anesthetic and/or whatever pain meds you can give to a rat.
