Shaykh al-Luhaydaan was asked (6th Safar 1435H):
لماذا كثر الكلام حول الشيخ ربيع ، ولماذا يطعنون فيه حفظكم الله تعالى؟
Why has speech increased regarding Shaykh Rabee and why do they revile him, may Allaah preserve you?
الرجل نِعْم الرجل في عقيدته ، وغيرته على الدين ، ولا تلتفت إلى الذين يتكلمون فيه ، لأنه هو يرد على المخالفين للسنة ، المخالف يحقد عليه لأنه رد على المخالفين ، ومن لم يخالف لعله يحسده لأنه تنبه إلى ما لم يتنبهوا له ، الرجل نعم الرجل علما ودينا
"The man, what an excellent man in his aqeedah and in his jealousy for the religion. Do not turn to those who speak about him, it is because he refutes the opposers of the Sunnah, the opposer harbours malice against him because he refutes the opposers. And (as for the one) who does not oppose (the truth), then perhaps he envies him because he is aware of what they did not become aware of. The man, what an excellent man, in knowledge and deen."
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin Explains Why Shaykh Rabee' Is Attacked
ما هي نصيحتكم لمن يمنع أشرطة الشيخ ربيع بن هادي المدخلي بدعوى أنها تثير الفتنة وفيها مدح لولاة الأمر في المملكة ، وأن مدح الشيخ ربيع للحكام نفاق ؟ .
What is your advice concerning the one who forbids the cassettes of Shaikh Rabee' bin Haadee [from being distributed] with the claim that they cause fitnah and that they contain praise of the Wullaat ul-Umoor of the Kingdom, and that his praise of them emanates from nifaaq (hypocrisy)?
To which the Shaykh responds:
رأينا هذا غلط وخطأ عظيم ، والشيخ ربيع من علماء السنَّة ومن أهل الخير وعقيدته سليمة ومنهجه قويم ، لكن لما كان يتكلم على بعض الرموز عند بعض الناس من المتأخرين وصموه بهذه العيوب ، أعرفت ؟
"We consider this to be a great error and mistake. Shaikh Rabee' is from the Ulamaa of the Sunnah, and from the people of goodness. His aqidah is sound and his manhaj is strong and sound. However, when he began to speak about some of the symbolic figureheads of some of the people, from amongst the latecomers they began to tarnish him with these faults. Do you know [this] now?"
Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadee (rahimahullaah) stated about Shaykh Rabee bin Haadee:
بحمد لله أهل السنة يغربلون المجتمع غربلة، الشيخ ربيع، لا تزال طائفة من أمتي على الحق ظاهرين (لا يضرهم) من خالفهم ولا من خذلهم حتى يأتي أمر الله وهم على ذلك، الشيخ ربيع في أرض الحرمين ونجد، نعم بحمد الله يغربل الحزبيين غربله ويبيّن ما هم عليه
"By the praise of Allaah, Ahl al-Sunnah filter out the society with a filtering. Shaykh Rabee, "There will never cease to be a faction from my Ummah, manifestly upon the truth. They will not be harmed by those who oppose them, nor abandon them, until the command of Allaah arrives and they are upon that." Shaykh Rabee' [is from amongst these] in the land of the Haramayn and Najd, yes, by the praise of Allaah, he filters out the Hizbiyyeen with a filtering and he makes clear what they are upon."
Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadee (rahimahullaah) stated about Shaykh Rabee bin Haadee:
مِنْ أبصر الناس بالجماعات وبدخن الجماعات في هذا العصر الأخ الشيخ ربيع بن هادي - حفظه الله - مَن قال له ربيع بن هادي إنه حزبي فسينكشف لكم بعد أيام إنه حزبي، ستذكرون ذلك، فقط الشخص يكون في بدء أمره متستراً ما يحب أن ينكشف أمره لكن إذا قوي وأصبح له أتباع، ولايضره الكلام فيه أظهر ما عنده، فأنا أنصح بقراءة كتبه و الاستفادة منها -حفظه الله تعالى
"From the most insightful of people of the jamaa'aat (partisan groups) and the taint (dakhan) of the jamaa'aat in this era, is the brother, the Shaykh, Rabee' bin Haadee (may Allaah protect him). To whomever Shaykh Rabee says that he is a hizbee, then after the passing of days it will be uncovered to you that he is hizbee, you will remember that. At the beginning of his affair, a man may conceal himself (in terms of what he is upon), he does not like to be uncovered, however when he becomes strong and gains followers and (he is certain that any) speech about him will not harm him if he now openly manifests what he has with him, so I advise the reading of his books (Shaykh Rabee's) and benefiting from them - may Allaah protect him."
In his book (تحفة القريب والمجيب) Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadee (rahimahullaah) in answer to question no. 75, stated about Shaykh Rabee bin Haadee, when asked about which Scholars to refer back to:
والشيخ ربيع بن هادي المدخلي، فهو آية من آيات الله في معرفة الحزبيين، لكن لا كآيات إيران الدجالين
"And Shaykh Rabee bin Haadee al-Madkhaliee, for he is a sign amongst the signs (aayaat) of Allaah in knowledge of the Hizbiyyeen, but not like the aayaat of Iraan, the Dajjaaleen."
Imaam al-Albani's Corroboration, Praise and Commendation of Shaykh Rabee's Refutations of the Ash'ari, Sayyid Qutb in a handwritten letter (original is published in sources at bottom):
"Everything with which you have refuted Sayyid Qutb is the truth (haqq) and is correct (sawab). And it will become sufficiently clear from this refutation to every one who has read anything from "The Islamic Heritage" that Sayyid Qutb had no knowledge of the Usool (fundamentals) or the Furoo' (subsidiary matters) of Islaam. So may Allaah reward you with the best of reward, O brother Rabee for fulfilling the obligation of explaining and uncovering his ignorance and deviation from Islaam."
When Shaykh Ibn Baaz was asked: "Shaykh Rabee' slanders so-and-so and so-and-so from the Duaat (Callers)", he replied:
"Fear Allaah. The man is an Imaam in the Sunnah."
The noble Shaikh 'Abdul-'Azeez ibn Baaz (rahimahullahu ta'ala), he mentioned that 'Shaikh Rabee' is from the best of the people of the Sunnah, and that he is well known to him for his knowledge, excellence, and for good and correct 'aqeedah, that he has no doubt that he is from the people of the Sunnah and the Jamaýah, that he is well known to him for rectitude, knowledge and correct 'aqeedah. And Shaikh Ibn Baaz advised him with calling to Allah and to continue refuting those who oppose the way of the Salaf, and that he should persevere patiently upon that, and Shaikh Ibn Baaz advised the students of knowledge that they should benefit from the books of Shaikh Rabee'.
Shaykh Ahmad az-Zahraanee wrote:
"And in Riyaadh on 20/8/1427H Shaykh Rabee' visited the esteemed Mufti (Abdul-Aziz Aal ash-Shaykh) in Riyaadh, in his office at al-Jaamii' al-Kabeer and Shaykh Rabee' spoke about the Ahl ul-Bid'ah wal-Ahwaa (People of Innovations and Desires) and what they conceal of [intending] evil towards the Sunnah and its people. Discussion took place about the Internet and the people of desires using it to spread their poison. So the Muftee said: O Shaykh Rabee'. Have patience. Indeed Allaah is with those who are patient, and you are a well-known mountain. Let them not concern O Shaykh Rabee'. Those are ignorant, foolish-minded ones."
"And the Muftee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Shaykh, Allaamah, Abdul-Aziz Aal ash-Shaykh kissed the forehead of Shaykh Rabee' al-Madkhali on Wednesday 4/12/1423H at the Makkah Cultural Centre, and the esteemed Muftee requested this from him, saying to him, "You are our Shaykh". And he also said this in Taa'if in 1427H."
"And on Monday, 19/12/1427H in Makkah, Shaykh Rabee' al-Madkhalee visited the esteemed Muftee in his office, and Shaykh Rabee' gave salaams, and the Muftee said: "Wa alaykum as-salaam warahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh - welcome O our Shaykh, Shaykh Rabee'".
Shaykh Muhamad ibn Abdulwahab al Bana (Rahimuhullah):
"The Imaam of Jarh wa Ta'deel is our trustworthy reliable brother Rabee ibn Hadee, Wallahi.
Imaam of jarh we ta'deel of 14th century (AH).
Allah sends at the head of every century someone that will reform this religion.
And the reformer of Jarh we ta'deel with justice and trustworthiness and all safety, by Allah is Rabee ibn Hadi.
And i challenge everyone who says that he speaks without evidence.
Maa shaa Allah , may Allah preserve shaykh Rabee."
Shaykh Rabee' bin Haadee al-Madkhalee played an instrumental role in exposing the Heretical Ash'aris and Mu'tazilis who brought the poison of fikr into this Ummah, combining it with the methodologies of organizational secrecy such as those of Jamal al-Din al-Afghani al-Baatinee. Just as the Shaykh has an instrumental role in refuting the Raafidah, the Sufees, the Khawaarij, the Modernists and other than them from the variuos opposers to the Book and the Sunnah. He was supported by the other Major Scholars in all the major issues of aqidah and manhaj with respect to which he refuted those heretical innovators, their institutions, parties and organizations. Those scholars include Imaam al-Albaani, Imaam Ibn Baz, Imaam Ibn Uthaymeen, Imaam Muqbil bin Haadee, Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan, Shaykh Ahmad al-Najmee, Shaykh Saalih al-Luhaydaan and many others. There are people present today whose hearts are filled with hatred and resentment because their symbolic figureheads were spoken of or because their organizations and institutions which harbour evil partisanship and have oppositions to the Salafi aqidah and methodology were spoken of. And thus every faction has a reason for hatred of this Shaykh because he refuted the Jahmite Ash'aris of Egypt, the Sufees, the Khawarij and Takfiris, the Modernists and Liberalists, the Ikhwanis, the Tablighis and the enemies of the da'wah of Tawhid in general. These people try to spread doubts and misconceptions not unlike the doubts and misconceptions spread by the Jahmiyyah against Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) - like for like (and that is the subject of an entire book).
