SONG: KALAAM - Mashrou’ Leila
Be Salafi
al-Ḏahabī may Allah have mercy on him said: قال الذهبي رحمه الله تعالى: It is authentically reported from al-Dāraquṭnī that he said: "وصح عن الدارقطني أنه قال: “Nothing is more detestable to me than ʿilm al-kalām (ie: the science of theological rhetoric).” ما شيء أبغض إلي من علم الكلام. I (ie: al-Ḏahabī) say: A man should never engage in ʿilm al-kalām or al-jadal; rather, he should be Salafī (ie: adhere to the way of the Pious Predecessors). قلت: لم يدخل الرجل أبداُ في علم الكلام ولا الجدال، ولا خاض في ذلك، بل كان سلفياً" اهـ. 🎀 For the song ask 🎀 -> 3,6 and 19
3) a song that your best friend loves
the beach by the neighbourhood. it's a hauntingly, achingly beautiful song abt unrequited love + being stuck in the "friendzone" (but, like, not in a douche-y misogynistic way)
6) a song that's at least in 3 of your playlists
buzzcut season by lorde. as someone who used to suffer vv badly from derealisation disorder as a kid, a song abt hyper-reality hits too close to home. no joke, this song made me bawl like a baby when i first heard it & i seldom cry when i listen to music
19) a song that you can imagine listening to in an abandoned church ( if it isn’t hozier im judging you, but whatever )
the beginning of the end by klergy is such a magnificent song & it rlly gives me abandoned church vibes (also makes me think of judgement day on some level). this one might be considered a bit blasphemous but kalaam by mashrou' leila also sounds like it would sound eerily beautiful in an abandoned church but it's abt a homoerotic relationship (the lead singer is gay). since i'm not for homophobia, i have no qualms w/ conceptualising it as such. also all of hozier's discography is valid

“Aaj ki baat
Phir nahiin hogi
Yeh mulaqaat
Phir nahiin hogi
Aise baadal toh
Phir bhi aayenge
Aisi barsaat
Phir nahiin hogi
Raat unko bhi
Yun huwa mehsoos
Jaise yeh raat
Phir nahiin hogi
Ik nazar
Mudhke dekhne waale
Kya yeh khairaat
Phir nahin hogi?
Shab-e-gham ki
Sehar nahin hogi
Ho bhi toh
Mere ghar nahin hogi
Zindagi,tu hi
Mukhtasar ho jaa
Shab-e-gham
Mukhtasar nahiin hogi”
-Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
