On the authority of Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه, he said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"I know of a verse which, if all people were to follow it, would suffice them:

'And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out, and will provide for him from where he does not expect.'

Abdullāh ibn Mas'ūd (رضي الله عنه) said:

"The bearer of the Qur'ān should be recognised by his night when people are asleep, by his day when the people are eating, by his sadness when people rejoice, by his weeping when people laugh, by his silence when people indulge in vain talk, and by his humility when people are arrogant."

Al Ḥasan Al Baṣri (رحمه الله) said,

يا ابن آدم! كيف يرق قلبك وإنما همتك في آخر السورة

O son of Adam, how can your heart be softened when your only concern is reaching the end of your surah?

“Do not disperse your heart searching for love, safety, and completeness with other than Allah.

You will not find that (with other than Allah).”
