Lantern Eclipse!
Lantern Eclipse takes place in a world that ended a while ago! Roughly 100-odd years ago, a combination of weird mold creatures, magic nature spirits, and good old-fashioned nuclear radiation completely took over, resulting in the destruction of the vast majority of manmade areas! Most major cities have been completely overgrown with mold and megaflora, save for a few āhavensā scattered few and far in between.

ANYWAY. Our story takes place in one of those havens, called Guardian City, which is mostly known for its massive size, wild amount of neon lights, and also the really intense military organization called the Shepherd Division that runs the place like the navy! Or like. Half of it. Thereās also the violet district that takes up maybe a fifth of the city, which is mostly controlled by various mob kingpins, drug lords, etc. technicallyyyyy the Shepherd Divison is supposed to control the area, but they generally let the violet district remain as is in exchange for all their bullshit not spilling over into the ārespectableā areas.
Also I feel like i should mention that Guardian City is huge. Like the size of Montana. Thereās a massive wall surrounding its border to keep the plants out, but you cannot see that wall from the center of the city
ANYWAY. This is all basic background info. Now itās meat time baybee
This is one of those stories where there are several separate plots with entirely different casts of characters going on at once, so Iām just going to go over one of them for now because itās getting late and as previously mentioned my hands are shaking so bad rn
The first person we need to meet is Fairywren Merlo! She was a skater boy <3 Fairywren is my darling dearest who can do no wrong. Sheās also a mercenary for hire and has most definitely killed before. She has a sniper rifle, roller skates, autism and a dream!!

The next person you should know about is Eddie Duncan, who i described in my notesapp as ālike if colonel sanders murdered people. Charming in a gross way, like a marginally more evil televangelist with a gun.ā Eddie is an INCREDIBLY influential figure within the violet district - heās rich, he has the Shepherd Division in his pocket, and heās also incredibly dangerous, so everyone wants to stay on his good side. Do people like him? Depends who you ask. Everyone, however, is scared of him. To be more precise, theyāre scared of his āhunting dog,ā the silent, nameless masked man who follows his every command. weāll get back to these two later.
now, fairywren is Good At Her Job. a bit too good at it. she gets a job to kill some random ass guyTM who sheās never heard of, so she does it! very well! EXCEPT turns out that was the son of a very important member of the shepherd guard, and the guy who hired her to kill him has now vanished, leaving her a) unpaid and b) being searched for by the shepherds. uh oh!!
the best solution she can think of is to get out of the city, but she doesnāt have any means of surviving outside the city until she meets Eddie, who brings her and a few other mercenaries along on some Top Secret Project that heās working on which requires them all to venture outside the city wall and search for some lost artifact he needs. fairywren and the others are mostly just there to kill mold monsters and be human shields for him.
they go the first few days without seeing any trouble aside from the usual freaky wasteland monsters, and then uh oh! they get ambushed by a group looking for that same artifact! and this is where the āhunting dogā i mentioned earlier becomes Very Important!
he is whatās known in Neon Eclipse as a āterrorā - an ageless, human-appearing creature that feeds only on human flesh and is nearly impossible to kill! theyāre like vampires but. worse <3 I can go into SO much detail about them but i will restrain myself for now because itās story time. but. anyway. everyone in their party watches him absolutely rip through all of their attackers!
obviously Eddieās hired guns arenāt too pleased about traveling out in the middle of nowhere with a guy who would 100% eat them if given the chance, but Eddie assures them that heās entirely under control. see, each terror has a āheart,ā usually in the form of some small weird looking stone. If someone else gets their hands on it, then they can use it to force the Terror to do whatever they want! and Eddie keeps the heart of his nameless follower on a cord around his neck!
turns out Eddie and his older brother used to be in the business of researching terrors about 40 years ago! they stumbled upon the one that now follows him everywhere while he was asleep, and Eddieās brother got a bit too close and. well. oopsie!
but hey he might be down a brother but at least he has Some Fuckin Guy on his side
some shit happens, and one by one, everyone else in the party dies in various terrible ways until itās only Eddie, Fairywren, and the terror left. Then Eddie finds his artifact! yay! buuuuut he doesnāt want any witnesses so Fairywren has to die </3 alas! She manages to escape - barely - but itās hard to outrun a terror for a few minutes, let alone forever. Eddie catches up to her within a few days, and things are looking Very Bad for our dear fairywren, who is now face to face with death.
BUT. instead of attempting to fight the terror! fairywren shoots Eddie! she fully expects the terror to kill her after, but seeing as the guy commanding him is now dead, he takes his heart from Eddieās body and leaves! and also starts laughing, which is the first noise Fairywren has ever heard him make. spooky
Fairywren is now completely lost in the cursed wilderness with no way back! BUT she eventually catches up with our terror friend (who can talk now thanks to not having Eddie forcing him to be quiet anymore) and they get to be friends <3 yippie <3 she also gives him the name Ford (she suggested harrison ford because heās her favorite actor but our terror friend thought harrison was a dumb name) theyāre still lost but at least they donāt have to worry if theyāre attacked and she is mostly confident that he probably wonāt murder her

A.K.A a paracosm of mine that I havenāt talked about literally ever because due to The Horrors i have been unable to daydreampost. Sorry.
Anyway! Fair warning for a little bit of fucked up shit! Mostly murder and cult stuff and some graphic violence. One of our dual protagonists kills people for a living so Iād say thatās to be expected, yknow? But weāll get to that guy later- Allow me to introduce you to John.
Johnathan Parse is nobody. People simply do not notice him, and he goes about his life as a background character to everyone else. This anxious wreck is a private investigator who usually takes up missing persons cases. Heās good at his job, but thereās one person he was never able to find - his daughter, Kyrie. She vanished nine years ago and was presumed dead, but he knows sheās still out there somewhere and heās been searching for her ever since. Heās still no closer to finding her than the day she went missing. Sad!
Howeverā¦ he does have one lead. A ludicrous, unreliable lead, but a lead nonetheless.
Weāll get to that in a bit.
Now let me introduce you to our OTHER protagonist- Vic Killigan, the titular character.
Killigan is a hitman with a very fortunate name (even thought itās not his Real Name but we are not delving into that today). Heās terrifyingly good at his job, and impossible to find unless he wants you to. This weird little freak has been running circles around the law for years.
Very few people have been brave enough to try hunting Vic down, and none have survived.
Unfortunately, he is the only lead John has.
You see, Vic was raised in what is essentially an elite child soldier death cult known as the ROSE Order. At the ripe old age of 19, he escaped ROSE, faked his death, and proceeded to capitalize on murder since it was the only life skill he had. John has reason to believe that this āOrderā is responsible for his daughterās disappearance, and that Vic has some sort of connection, but if Killigan is hard to find, ROSE is out of the question.
Let me pause for a second and explain ROSE. Itās an underground paramilitary organization that is comprised of highly efficient and ruthless assassins, most of which were kidnapped as young children to be trained. ROSE has a foothold in most governments, puppeteering from the background, but they also work in providing private military services to their many sponsors. If youāre raised in the Order, thereās like a 50% chance youāll become a ROSE spy/assassin, and a 50% chance youāll get shipped off to go do shady murder shit for some rich fuck.
The only people who know how deep the Order runs are those in charge - or those who find out too much and are subsequently killed. Of course, thereās a slim percentage that manage to escape ROSE, but even most of them donāt have a clue.
Vic Killigan does.
If John has any hope of finding his daughter, Killiganās his man- which leads him to spend months fruitlessly trying to track him down until a āØpotential informantāØ makes contact, and John winds up roped into attending a big gala. His informant doesnāt show, but the host of the gala is murdered by none other than Killigan himself. John manages to get a tracker on him in the form of a very fancy pen and, because heās allowed to be a dumb bitch occasionally, breaks into his house without a plan to try and find a lead.
Clearly that does not go well, and not long after, John wakes up ziptied to a chair with the man the myth the legend Killigan interrogating him as to how the Fuck he tracked him down. Great first impressions <3 John, being scared shitless for obvious reasons, tells him everything immediately. Killigan just stares at him for a minute, and thenā¦ he leaves the room without a single word. Youāll notice he does that a lot.
It takes John a somewhat pathetic fifteen minutes to break free from his ziptie prison, and he walks out to see Vic sitting on the kitchen counter staring off into space. Heās beginning to get the feeling that this was a very bad idea, and that this Killigan character is in fact extremely fucking weird. Too late now!

Killigan very politely informs him that there is no way in hell heās going to mess with the Order because while he might have a death wish that is absolutely not the way he wants to go. He also advises John to stay the fuck away from ROSE if he doesnāt want to get McMurdered. However! After some small deliberation, Vic goes āugh. god. fine.ā and agrees not to help him get to ROSE, but connect him with some friends who might be willing to.
First stop: Anastasia Cruz and her team.

Anastasia Cruz is, like Vic, an escaped ROSE agent who then decided to put her skills to use. She runs a syndicate of thieves known as the Sapphires, which Vic never stops making fun of because he thinks it sounds like a band (and heās not wrong). Ruby Garnier is Anastasiaās far less charismatic second-in-command.
Vic is a close friend of Anastasiaās. They might as well be siblings! And yet, when he arrives at the Sapphireās base of operations, he and John are immediately attacked, knocked out, and taken prisoner. Well, shit!! Thatās not good!
Anyway this has been in my drafts for a few weeks so Iām just going to post it and Iāll write out a part 2 later lmfaooo

Iāve been discussing a Wicked Wheels ttrpg campaign for a while. Iām nearly done with working out the mechanics. A few details:
Would be run over Discord, either text based or in scheduled calls, I havenāt decided yet (but itāll most likely be text based since Iām weird about being on camera)
It would be using an original system, so it wouldnāt have the same mechanics as D&D 5e - but it does have a few similarities with the Kids On Brooms system for reference
Iāll be running it over the summer, likely starting mid-June or early July, so thatās several months from now.
I need six players to form one team! Iād prefer for said players to be fellow madders, but Iām not super picky about it!
