I just realized yall barely saw any of prince Lauzun. That shall be fixed.
I'm clearly bad with colors, but ssshhh
Lore and other stuff:
Laurun does not exist. :) After the death of his father, Lauzun is the only heir. Which is a huge problem, since he's about three years old at the time. He doesn't get killed because the Mother of Dragons, Luyan hides him. She sees that it isn't the best option, but about the best they have. Lauzun doesn't meet the Malto members nor the twins, no one.
In the early years, only the Mother of The Dragons rules, and Lauzun continues to rely on her and Lyamin later as well. He keeps peace and does not let the few of his (still alive) people to go to war. He quickly found another way to make the money they need.
All the mature descendants are stuck in a cycle of gems appearing on their faces and bodies, blocking one of their senses, giving them a depressive episode, and a bunch of physical and mental pain. It's a monthly cycle. Hm, it reminds me of something.... unrelated.
All the descendants must cover their faces up with veils at these periods. Not to show, not to mention, not to disturb the young or others. Not even their lovers or most trusted and beloved ones can see it. In the moment the person is capable of covering it up themself, they have to endure it alone. And the whole painful depressive episode is a huge taboo. No one is to see you at your worst, only through a veil, and you're not to talk about the symptoms you're experiencing.
Of course, the leader has it the worse. But the leader's "gems of pain" are the most valuable.
These "diamonds" (they're not diamonds but that's what I've been calling them) normally leave scars, then dissapear completely. (In early stages, they are only spreading across the cheeks, so it's not as disturbing looking. No need to cover it up.) However.... if someone were to take a plier.... and tear it out of their face..... they could keep a lot more of them then otherwise. So that's what Lauzun has been up to.
He tears the diamonds from his face, keeps them, waits for more to grow, and tears those out, too. And then sells them. Yup.
Only Luyan and Lyamin knows.
Of course, all this behavior has its whiplash. Lauzun loses many of his senses. His sight is only 30% WITHOUT the veil. With the veil, it's just blurry shadows. His hearing is damaged too, and he can't speak either. His reaction time is slower. The episodes last longer and they are more brutal, since he's practically forcing it to end, and he doesn't even recieve the attack buff that he's supposed to. (This is the ritual of this AU. Kind of. I'll add more details later) Lyamin is his bodyguard and his right hand man in these times. And in general too.
All of this veil masking is tradition, that's why Lauzun hasn't changed it yet.
Ofc, the divine dragons are also crystal like. :]
In this culture, gems are not objects of wealth. They are objects of strength and determination.
Also, gender is non-existent here. I'm not saying the last chief was Lauzun's mother, but his parents ACTUALLY ruled together, not that king and queen bullshit. The Mother of Dragons deserves more respect then the chief. Like, bow and kneel type of respect. You're not to look her in the eye type of respect.
The clan is peaceful rn. They can heal from all that happened, and spend more time with their families. They are still training hard and their life is still battle focused. Just not as much as before.
I've been calling Lauzun prince bc 1 He clearly reads as one more then the chiefs did before 2 I'm convinced he can't be called "king" or anything, not just because he wouldn't want to, but because I feel like the Mother of Dragons is above all chieves.
The Mother of Dragons either wears a veil permanently or she never does. Not that it matters you're not allowed to look at her like who do you think you are
The clan would sleep better if they had a heir after what happened to the last chief, but the problem is..... neither Lyamin nor Lauzun (who are the rulers rn and only living members of the royal family) is planning to do that. Because. Just. Please just look at them. Lyamin is aroace but if she's not she's a lesbian and Lauzun has never found a woman attractive in his life, but even if he did he couldn't....... yeah. Surely that won't cause any problems in the future.
Lyamin is in charge of the "military" force and Lauzun handles the civil life and they are both very much in touch with their people. They are doing a good job.
The Dragon Descendants have other ways of income, but those dirty freaking diamonds are the main way.
I wish I had made better art for this much lore... ^^"
Thanks for listening/reading
