this was done so quickly and I don’t like how it turned out (the values are messed up and the sea looks gross) but (once again) I am very very short on time and energy these days ;-;

anyway, I saw this old postcard of my neighbourhood and I drew Porco Rosso in it, of course. The film is set mostly in Dalmatia after all, the postcard is from the same time, and my town (Zadar) had a regular public transport line to Trieste by hydroplane between the two wars. I had always assumed Miyazaki made up the whole hydroplane thing. Not hydroplanes as such, but them being so widely used, and indeed in Dalmatia. So I was pretty surprised when I came across this old photo. I think he made up the hyroplane pirates tho
