The text is Latin — “Frater Vincentius Stultus” — which translates to “Brother Vincent the Fool”

Brother Vincentius is an OC of mine. He is a 10th Century (900s CE) Anglo-Saxon Benedictine monk. As the third son of a merchant his choices in life were limited, and joining a monastery was the simplest way to ensure his continued survival. Unfortunately his Latin skills are quite poor (perhaps his family skimped out on his education), for which he is chastised often. He enjoys gardening and dislikes his scribal work.
