You know when you wanna squeeze them so tight their head pops off but you donât want them to die you just need to let out your love for them by giving them I giant hug until their eyes bulge? Just me? Thatâs fine
Hello,
I just saw and left on comment on AO3 NSFW Characters and I must say - you are an amazing writer and would encoruage you to keep up the goodwork!
I just got to rewatching some Star Trek and My Favorite is DS9!
I was wondering - what was yours?
Lastly, I was wondering if you have considered -
How the Characters would react to getting a poem from their admirers or/ lover đ. I think Koval would be the most appreciated đ!
Another thing, How do you think they would react to a delectation of love - I love you so much, that I would die and burn myself for you â¤ď¸!
Thank you and see you around
Helloooo!!!
Well my friend, I owe you an apology. You asked this forever ago and I am just now able to respond and for that I apologize! Life has been "Life-ing" and it has been hard to write but I am SO grateful for your ask because you actually re-awoke my writing gremlin so THANK YOU! I am hoping I will have more time to write again as I have sorely missed it so thank you so much for your encouragement and patience!
Also THANK YOU for your sweet comments on my fics. You really have no idea how much that means to me! You are giving me life!
I have your stories below but to answer your question, my favorite is Deep Space Nine! It is the characters. I feel like I know them after 7 years, like I could walk onto DS9 and just chill with all of them. Don't get me wrong, I love all other Treks but the character depth on DS9 is unparalleled and even though they live in trying times, I would still love to pay them all a visit ;-)
Now onto the stories! I went ahead and answered your prompt/question about the poem for Koval, Letant, and Vreenak. I really hope you enjoy and thank you for being so amazing! Hugs!
Koval:Â Â
Koval slowly peeled the outer layer of his Tal Shiar jacket off of his shoulders, casually tossing it on the chaise in his study. Usually he was meticulous in how he treated his uniform, never allowing the insignia at his throat, that subtle shape that indicated to any who saw it that he was the most important man in the Romulan Empire, to hit the floor. But it was late and the day had been tiresome. Pouring himself a glass of Kali Fal, Koval, rolled his shoulders and made his way to his desk, mentally preparing himself for the seemingly endless hours of work that was becoming more and more tedious as the war with the Dominion raged on. He had people to do some of the more menial tasks, but the ones he faced tonight required a more sensitive touch. Koval needed to inform Luther Sloan immediately about what he and his team discovered today. Only then could the cover up begin.
Koval sighed and placed his drink on his desk. Closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose, he allowed his shoulders to slump for the first time in days. He had a job to do, he knew he was doing the right thing, but it was all so messy, so challenging, and unfortunately, despite all of his self-appointed rules to separate business from his personal life, this time business was personal. Â
Kovalâs long time Tal Shiar colleague, mentor, and personal friend, had been assassinated. It should have been a time of sorrow, of public mourning, of planning redemption, and of revenge. But Koval saw through the ruse. It became evident the moment he personally examined what was left of that Cardassian data rod : it was a set up. A brilliant one to be sure, but still only smoke and mirrors to hide the true culprit. It didnât take long to put the pieces together. Elim Garak was known to Koval, and despite how brilliant Garak was, Koval was more so. The most damnable thing was, if it hadn't been Vreenak in that shuttle, Koval had to admit, Garakâs plan, in theory alone, was brilliant. But Koval knew Garakâs patterns, had analyzed his previous work and knew certain tells that made the true culprit obvious. Â
The slight trace of biomemetic gel found in the wreckage almost brought a smile to Kovalâs lips. Years ago, when Senator Garav was found dead on his personal shuttle, after an explosion in his quarters that was attributed to a malfunction of his replicator, the small traces of biomemetic gel had been hidden by Koval and his team. It was better to let the people of Romulus believe it was an accident, or even attribute the death to the Tal Shiar itself, than a rogue Cardassian gardener who suddenly left his position after Garavâs untimely death. Â
But all of that was in the past now. Koval knew the stakes were too high and the damage was done. It would be up to him and his team to finish the job. He knew Romulus *had* to enter the war, but he wasnât happy about it. Â
Shaking his dark locks, Koval unlocked the grip on the bridge of his nose, opened his eyes and took a deep breath. He searched the room, hungrily looking for anything to distract him from the pain that threatened to well up in his chest. He couldn't afford to allow his emotions to eat at his soul. Falling apart wouldn't bring Vreenak back. As Kovalâs eyes searched for anything that might distract him for even just a moment, he saw it. Â
âWhat is thisâŚâ He muttered as he tentatively reached a hand out to an envelope on his desk. Â
Koval smiled and released the faintest of laughs. Â
âOf course.â He exhaled as he reached for the paper and picked it up without a second thought. Â
There was only one person who would be allowed in his office unsupervised, only one person who could make their way into his private rooms without suspicionâŚ.
Koval leaned back in the chair and bringing the envelope to his nose, he inhaled deeply. Your scent lingered on the paper. The cream colored folds were crisp and thick. It was clear you had paid close attention to Kovalâs penchant for luxury as this fine piece of parchment was exactly something he would purchase for himself. Â
Carefully, Koval ran a finger under the fold to open the envelope. The scent of you washed over him and he grinned. A smaller folded piece of paper was nestled in the envelope and as he gingerly pulled it free, his smile broadened. Only you would be so clever as to make your way into his room. Only you could somehow intuit that whatever this treasure may be, he needed it now. Â
As Koval opened the paper, the sight of your fine handwriting flashed over his eyes. Koval could speed read in over ten languages but for this one, he took his time. Â
âMy darling KovalâŚâ it began. Â
As Koval started to read the hand written declaration of love, he leaned forward, eyes alight, breath hitched in his throat as each line of poetry, written with such abandon, such adoration, and such grace, hit the hard walled off part of his soul that he kept hidden from the galaxy. With every beautiful phrase, every illustrative outpouring of your affection to him, Kovalâs inner fortress began to crumble. Â
Hot tears welled in his eyes as the facade began to fade, warmth encased him, and his heart felt light for the first time in ages. Your gentle exploration of your relationship, penned beautifully on a piece of parchment, forced the tears to softly flow. Â
Koval didn't *cry*. But the tears that dripped down his cheeks spoke volumes. It wasnât sadness, or regret. It wasnât shame or sorrow or disappointment. It was love. Pure and simple love. With every line, the poem seared its way into his heart and soul, burning away the tears, the fear, and the anger that slept deep. Â
As Koval sighed his lips slowly creased upwards in a magnificent smile. Â
âI love you so much that I would die and burn myself for you!â The poem ended. Â
Koval exhaled. Leaning back in his chair, he ran his fingers through his dark hair and looked up to the ceiling. Â
Today was exhausting, tomorrow would be worse, but nowâŚbut now...now he possessed something that would wipe away all the pain of the past and the future. Your loveâŚyour devotionâŚthat was worth fighting for. Even if Koval had to do the impossibleâŚhe would do it for the one he loved above all others. Â
Closing his eyes he smiled in resolve. His work could wait a few hours more. He now had a more pressing need. Pressing his palm to his computer, the screen lit up above his desk. A few quick memorized key swipes later and he had what he needed. Â
Picking up the poem, he held it up to the screen, his voice deep.
âGood evening eâlev, I see you have written me somethingâŚâ Â
Letant:Â Â
Letant sauntered into his private rooms, grinning from ear to ear. His lover was arriving tonight and every detail had to be perfect. Â
You had been gone for over five months, but in that time, you had been utterly tantalizing Letant with communiques that edged on the border of explicit. You were too intelligent to send him anything deliciously filthy, but the subtle words of your poems had elicited a spark within Letantâs heart and body, that had him on the edge of his seat since you had been gone. Â
âYou are wicket eâlev, but now I will have my fun.â He whispered as he lit his favorite scented candles around the room, allowing the soft glow to illuminate his most intimate space with a cascade of warm light that flowed over the walls and disappeared on the balcony.
As Letant opened a bottle of Earth wine, in preparation for your arrival, he sniffed the cork, a trick you had taught him, and smiled. Memories of your time in Argentina, sipping wine against the gorgeous backdrop of the Andes to frame your little romantic getaway, ran rampant through his thoughts, making him nearly spill the wine as he poured it into the decanter.Â
âNow, now, donât you start misbehaving too..â Letant admonished the bottle as he placed it down and clapped his hands together. Â
You would be here any minute, and Letantâs energy was bouncing off the walls. If one could trace the energy from a single being, one would see Letantâs fire cascading over every surface of his most intimate space. His love for you, his most precious treasure, abounded. You were everything he had ever wanted and his soul floated at the thought of your embrace.
Letant grinned as he stared at himself in the mirror. Pulling the handwritten note you had left for him to read the last time you visited, Letant allowed himself to indulge in your words once more, before you arrived and he could indulge in you personally and thoroughly.
âLetantâŚmy rogue, my heart, my love, and my soulâŚ.â  It began.
The words that flowed after were memorized by now. Letant had read this poem a thousand times and a thousand times had his heart swelled past any reasonable semblance of a rational being. He was enchanted, ensconced, and in love. Â
Tonight, he would read your poem back to you, word by precious word, without ever looking at the page. He would sit by your side and then recite the poem that had ached to free itself from his throat, since the moment he saw your face.
âEâlevâŚthe ages have worn me, life has tried to stifle me, but you, my darling, are the fuel to my flameâŚ.â He started. Â
âDamn.â He mutteredâŚ.he still wasnât sure that was how he wanted to start it. He was far more confident about the body of the poem than he was in the first line. Â
Fumbling in his pocket, he once again pulled out your poem and read the last line.
âI love you so much that I would die and burn myself for you!â You wrote.
âAlright my darlingâŚif you say soâŚâ He said as he winked at the paper and placed it gently back in his pocket. Â
Letant turned around and ran his hand through his hair. He could do this. He could sway a Senate with no more than a glance and a smile. If he could win over an army of angry Romulans and quell a feisty Klingon, he could win the heart of the person he loved more than anyone in the stars. Â
Gulping down, Letant raised his right hand dramatically towards the setting sun, just over his balcony.
âAnd if you wish to burn then allow me to alight youâŚâ He bellowed as if speaking to a theatre of a thousand patrons. Â
âAnd in this fire, I will love you,Â
until we outlast every star in the sky.
Let me live forever within the light of your eyesÂ
and should my soul die, allow me to die gazing at you.
In your eyes, there is peace, there is hope,
the eternity I have always longed for. Â
Welcome me, my beloved, into your embraceÂ
and let us love one another until the stars fall at our feet.â Â
Letant finished his performance and gazed out onto the sea as the sun touched its shores. Â
"They will be here any minute!â Letant thought as he rushed to his desk. Â
Opening a secret door on his desk, Letant found the object he was looking for. Humans were so odd with their traditions, and yet, if he was honest, he knew Romulans held the same, if not slightly altered. Â
Letant held the black box in his hands and smiled at the weight of it. Opening the lid gingerly, he grinned as the gold plated latinum bracelet came into view, the light catching the bracelet ever so gently, sending a soft wave of luminescence over his eyes.
âOh, arenât you a gorgeous thing! Someone with taste must have found you!â He chuckled to himself. âNow be a good engagement bracelet and bind yourself to the person I love.â He grinned. Â
*Ding*
Letant threw his shoulders back, the chime at his door unsettling his usual calm resolve. Â
âEnnnâŚâ He coughed, a sudden tightness in his throat catching him off guard. Letant was well spoken even in the worst of moments but tonight, his chest was tight and his throat was locked. Â
âNot now dammitâŚ.â He admonished himself, gently pounding his chest with his fist.Â
Letant opened his mouth to say the word. It was a simple word but one that would change the course of his life forever. He was on the precipice of inviting another being into his life, and should you accept, his world and yours, would never again be the same.
Rolling his shoulders back, Letant reminded himself of who he was. Senator, Spy, Lover, and nowâŚPoet. Â
âEnter!â He commanded with a sharp bark, mustering all of his courage. Â
The door opened with a whoosh and as the light filtered onto your face, Letant smiled.  Â
Vreenak:
The door to his study had been left intentionally unlocked. He knew you liked to leave him little surprises while he was away on business. No one had completely free reign of Vreenakâs quarters, but you, his human lover, were different. You never imposed, never tried to steal secrets, and never asked for anything from Vreenak other than his affection. Vreenakâs usually hardened face cracked slightly at the memory of the printed photos you left for him to find one morning. He had been particularly struck by this as to find something as antique as a printed photograph was rare, but these photos were something else entirely. Â
Humans apparently used to call them "boudoir photographs" and Vreenak acknowledged that they were perhaps best left to an analog form where they could not be easily transmitted for other eyes to see. He grinned wider. The delicious feast that was on display in those photographs was for his eyes and his eyes alone. Anyone else who might catch a glimpse of them would need to be silenced immediately.
Vreenak shrugged off his jacket and tossed it on his desk. Sitting down heavily, he leaned back and sighed. The past few days had been trying but tonight he was due to spend the evening with you. Nothing made him happier or more calm than knowing you were on your way. It had been ages since he had found someone as compatible, and your presence was like a fresh wind on his face. He felt awoken and alive when he was with you, brimming with excitement about what was to come next, rather than the dull fatigue he felt with others. You always surprised him and surprising Vreenak was something that no one else could do. Â
Pushing himself forward to lean on his desk he noticed an envelope on it. Â
âWhat is this?â He remarked as he picked up the heavy envelope.
Your scent was evident on the paper causing Vreenakâs grin to expand. He carefully opened the envelope and your delicious perfume washed over him.
âMmmhmmmmâŚ.â  He exhaled, the edges of his mouth curling upwards. Â
As he slid his long fingers into the envelope, he could feel a thick packet of paper. Pulling it out, more photographs spilled onto his desk.
âWhat is this?â He breathed as he picked up the glossy photographs.
Vreenakâs eyes widened. These photographs were subtle, gorgeous pictures taken by your hand, highlighting various body parts that Vreenak relished kissing. A slight green flush washed over his face as he studied each photo carefully.
âYou wicked thing.â His voice rumbled as his smile grew wider.Â
Flipping through each photograph, he came to the last one and his heart swelled. It was your face, staring at him through the lens, as if you were able to see through the photograph into Vreenakâs soul. Vreenak focused on how the light captured your eyes. His breath hitched in his throat and he felt his soul still. Â
This is what he loved most about you. Your gorgeous, soul stealing eyes. They had captured Vreenak on day one and never relinquished their grasp. Â
Idly turning the photo around in his fingers, he noticed some writing on the back of the picture of your face. It was a poem. One of your beautiful heartfelt poems. Vreenak rolled his shoulder and leaned further back in the chair, taking in every word of your gorgeous handwriting. Â
âI love you so much that I would die and burn myself for you!â The poem finished.
Vreenak sighed and closed his eyes. Bringing the photo closer to his face, he took in a deep breath of your scent and released a soft moan. Tilting his head to the side he opened his eyes and grinned.
Without a second thought, Vreenak hit the comms button on his wrist. His personal assistant, answered.
âYes Iihai?â They answered.
âCancel all my appointments tomorrow.â Vreenak said quickly.
âBut Illhai, you have several meetings with the ambassador ofâŚâ
âI know.â Vreenak cut them off. âMove them to the day after. Tell them I am otherwise occupied and am not to be disturbed.â Â
âAcknowledged.â His assistant knew better than to disagree with Vreenak and closed the comm.
Vreenak grinned and took a sip of Kali Fal as he stood. Â
Pressing the comm button on his personal computer, his eyes grew wide at the site of you on the other side of the screen.
âGood evening eâlev.â He said deeply. âI am looking forward to seeing you tonight."
You responded in kind and Vreenak continued.
"I received your giftsâŚ.and was hoping you might help me recreate these photos in person. I have blocked off all of tonight and tomorrow for this...reenactment.â Â
The giggle you gave in response lit up his heart.
âCome and get me then.â You responded with a slight tilt of your head.
"I'm on my way." He said as he closed the comm with a wolfish grin.
@humanconditionpoetry
I always liked the TNG concept for the Romulans' appearance. Romulans simply look more alien than Vulcans. I was disappointed that the Vulcans weren't also given a makeover. It's just so much more exciting when you can't tell who you're looking at.
This picture depicts a younger Koval.

It would have been interesting if Julian Bashir had a one night stand with Koval đ§
