@shine-by-night “If anybody’s out there, you can come out."
{ There was reluctancy coming from the creature hidden in the shadows, because no way she would ever trust herself with humans again, so when she put her muzzle out of the dark, she was ready for anything. }
And Starr herself is only human. She can’t see in the dark the way her partners can, but there’s always a touch of ambient light around, enough to let her make out lines and shapes and even colours once her eyes have adjusted. And she’s out at night often enough to be used to it. It’s not a superpower or anything. She just trips over slightly less things than someone who doesn’t bumble around in the dark at all would.
She’s watching the place she’d thought she heard noise, but even after the Pokémon’s nose appears, it takes a second or two for her to find and resolve it. She can sense the hesitation - that’s not a superpower, either; just knowing how to read body language - and calls over softly, gently, “I’m sorry if we frightened you. My partners like to go for walks on nice nights. You don’t have to come out if you don’t want to. I just wanted you to know that we’re here and we don’t want to bother you.”
