Person A burnt down the shop they worked at accidentally, but has the gift that for every amount of bad luck that happens to them and those around them, they and the other people affected will get good luck to the same degree of the bad luck that happened to them. Person B is the shop owner who considers Person A their lucky charm when the equivalent good luck happens to their shop. And when misfortune happens and Person A’s home gets destroyed, Person B offers to let them live with them in a spare room. But the good luck that follows begins seeming to rub off on Person B.

In a world where power is like the lottery, Character A has never been interested in winning. Their name is entered once – as per the law – but Character A never paid the ridiculous price for more entries. One day, Character A gets a phone call. Character A’s name was drawn out of thousands of participants and they are the new ruler of their society for the next year.

Person A is an AI created to pick the solution with the likeliest best outcome, and due to their ability to advise people, has been deemed “lucky”. Person B is cursed with bad luck, so decides to try to get help from Person A. Person A is confused why all their high success rate solutions don’t work for Person B, and decides Person B’s situation is a challenge they want to understand and overcome.

Person B: Yes, he survived the wasteland, so I have faith in his luck and skill.

Person A is cleaning off their desk since their life is spiraling out of control and it helps them remain calm. But buried on their desk, they find a ‘good luck’ writing utensil someone gave them once. Wanting to feel like they have some control, they write a list of all the things they want to happen in their life with the lucky pen/pencil. The next day the things start to come true, one by one. Turns out the pen/pencil is linked to a powerful entity (demon/god/etc.), Person B, and now that Person A has used it, it’s sent off a magic pulse, allowing Person B and others to be able to track Person A down, wanting to get ahold of the pen/pencil.
