#luberto headcanons

It’s the middle of spring in Portorosso, and Luca has kinda been the only thing on Alberto’s mind lately, and it’s starting to take its toll on him. When Alberto first notices it, he chalks it up to him just really missing his best friend… but then time passes and summer draws closer, the feeling only grows stronger.

It doesn’t help that there are so many things in his day to day like that remind him of Luca, and it’s become so overwhelming to the point where he can hardly focus on his job, and Massimo notices how distracted he seems. There’s just so much he wants to tell Luca, but he doesn’t know how.

And so he decided to confides in Massimo, who advises him to try putting his feelings down onto paper. It takes a little while for him to even start, but eventually, Alberto winds up pouring his heart out into a letter that takes up an entire page.

Once he’s finished, he looks it over and playfully rolls his eyes at himself for how cheesy it sounds. It’s actually kinda poetic, but you can tell that Alberto‘s the one wrote it, and not just because of his handwriting.

Afterwards, he tucks it away from safe keeping, not quite ready to actually send it. It just felt good to get some of his feelings out.

(spoiler alert: it gets sent in the mail by accident. internal panic ensues)

Luca is the first to make a move because of how inspired/passionate about learning he is, school taught him soooo much

Between the booksmarts and the school friends he gains more confidence which only makes him want to woo alberto even more

Sea monsters don’t know what homophobs is, so to luca and alberto boys being together isn’t anything new

Luca learns all kinds of stuff in school as they get older and he can’t wait to try things with his purple fish boyfriend, so he guides the way through their romantic life

pda also is nonexistent for sea monsters, so they are caught a lot smooching in the open (mainly by guilia who curses them in Italian for it)

Alberto is super flustered at the beginning, blushing all the time, but he never thought anything of it not even realizing later on that they are actual boyfriends

Both can get possessive and protective of the other when the other is either scared or gets hurt, you would think the one that enters a feral like state when seeing the other hurt would be Alberto, no it's Luca he gets down and all fours and hisses at anyone attempting to come towards Alberto, most of it comes from the panic and guilt over what happened when Ercole shot harpoons at Alberto and capturing him in the net.

He only allows himself or Massimo around Alberto when his hurt, and growls at anyone else attempting to come closer, which includes Giulia and his parents. He has to be at the others side, so the first person Alberto would see will be him.

When Luca is hurt, Alberto holds him tight but does ask for help, tears running down his face, sure he gets the urge to hold the other closer and want to help him himself, but he knows he wouldn't be that good at bandaging a wound so he reluctantly hands Luca over to the ones he know can help Massimo and Luca's parents. He tends to stay with Luca but mostly on the edge or near enough to the door, scared that he will get in anyone else's way, and just waits for Luca to wake up.

alberto: hey luca, i’ve got something to show u

luca: huh?

alberto: *opens the magazine he’s holding, a long page falls to the ground, that has a picture of an attractive female model on it*

luca: …uhh..umm…*tries not to avoid eye contact with the page*

alberto: well, isn’t it great? (lying)

luca: y-yeah…

alberto: *suddenly gets jealous of the model* so, what do you like abt it?

luca: wh-what? uhhh…*fearfully scans page* i..i guess…umm..

alberto: you like BOOBS???

luca: huh?!

alberto: TIDDIES??? i like tiddies (lies)

luca: y-you do? *is jealous of the model now* she is pretty…

alberto: yeah, isn’t she? (he thinks she isn’t and is mad that luca thinks she is)

luca: yeah… (is sad now because he thinks he’s not pretty enough for alberto :<)

later, in their separate rooms/houses…

luca: *stuffs chest with tissues while crying*

And thankfully most of the fandom agrees

🌻✨🌊🌿summer:

they don't understand the concept of swimming pools when you can just jump right in the ocean

alberto at some point needing to wear shoes because the roads were burning under his feet

they get way more freckles in the summer time, which show up as lighter more florescent scales in their sea monster forms

making popsicles in massimo's kitchen and eating them in the hideout

lazily sprawled out on the couch, with oranges and watermelon

it's so hot that alberto sits under the one fan running in the kitchen, while luca leans his head on his shoulder

🍁🍂📚☕️autumn:

the boys swap their cup of espresso for tea

making leaf piles

mandatory cuddles in the hideout with extra blankets and tea

luca stealing giulia's sweaters when he's cold

which makes alberto jealous, but luca wouldn't ask alberto because he lives in shorts and t-shirts

buying machiavelli scarfs and sweaters to dress him up in

much to his displeasure

kisses on each other's noses

❄ ☃ ⛄❄winter:

massimo taking alberto shopping for warmer clothes

with him pouting the whole time because he's not used to someone doting on him

but luca smiles and gushes over all of the outfits they pick out, saying that he's quite handsome and alberto brightens a bit at that

snowfall on giulia's window that alberto sees for the first time and immediately scoops up with his hands and tries eating it

the boys discovering that they really really like hot chocolate

giulia and luca reading books in the living room while alberto plays with the scarf around luca's neck

🌱🧺🌾🐏spring:

on warmer evenings luca would take alberto out into the courtyard to sit on the fountain and let the warm rain pour down their faces

luca helping out at the local flower shop during the spring time while alberto works with massimo

flower crowns!

luca grinning and in awe of all of the new life

the baby birds and bugs and butterflies and frogs that seemed to appear out of nowhere
