Yearly check in on this account— bar prep edition (more ‘study,’ less ‘-spo’).
It’s kinda crazy I made this account 5 years ago, in high school.
And now I have a J.D. and I’m studying for what I hope will be the last exam of my life.
5 years can change so much. I moved across the country, got married, I have two dogs now.
My standards have shifted too. I don’t really shoot for perfection anymore. It’d be nice, but it’s so unnecessary. A somewhat relieving reality I have come to realize is that nobody cares about your success as much as you do. Nobody cares when you succeed, and nobody cares when you fail. Not long term, or big picture, at least. A success or failure in and of itself doesn’t really mean much. It’s a lot more useful to set goals based on costs and benefits.
So, that’s to say, if I could do it again? I’d go to a ‘worse’ school, and seek more scholarships. Spend less time studying in undergrad, because I’m gonna be super honest, it doesn’t matter a ton. Probably take a gap year, because I am burnt!!!! Out!!! (Nobody cares that you’re the youngest or do it the fastest either, btw.)
But, live and learn.
Anyways! If anyone is still here and following this account after all this time, thanks! I’m in the home stretch! Pretty neat to think this tumblr account is the only thing that’s been consistent from point A to point B.
Also open to questions about law school or whatever but be warned, my answer is “don’t go, I hated it, I’m financially in ruin!” 🫶
