I love how their relationship has evolved into something so much better.

How ironic. She didn’t know how right she was, just a bit premature. 

 When Lucifer talked about leaving hell as he was tired of playing a part in dad's game, I never felt he saw himself as a pawn, more of a character in a play, the evil one, the scapegoat blamed for everything bad. But when Lucifer left LA, he was really destroyed, almost to the point of giving up, why even try when all goes back to daddy pulling his strings, trying to make Lucifer dance to his tune? IMO Lucifer felt like a winner getting out of Hell, leaving all that punishing behind, but he still wasn't able to really escape if all his actions were either foreseen by dad, or even orchestrated by him, like Chloe being born in the first place. And mom trying to use those feelings, getting Luci to take her to heaven and dad just makes him more frustrated. Lucifer has seen how a loving parent acts and what his parents are doing is not love at all, they just use him and his siblings in their own battles against one another.
