I've been home working for approximately a year. I didn't really know what I wanted to do in school and I figured I would piece it together as it went along.
I ended up majoring in philosophy and minoring in business with no real plan. I figured I could always enroll in a 1 or 2 year MBA program. I did just that about six months ago. Two or three months into the program I was dragging my feet with the pre-rec courses they assigned. It wasn't that difficult I just loathed doing it and was bored.
About a month ago, my mom was admitted to the hospital for an infection. It was legit awesome. I can't explain why, but I'm obsessed with hospitals. I get them. I want to learn everything they are doing and why. I have been like that forever, even when my appendix burst!
I made the choice then to ditch the MBA program, I wasn't passionate about it or the potential in my job. I needed to be more hands on. I wanted to go to into either a PA program or Nursing.
After discussing them and looking into all my choices, I opted for the PA program. I found a really good local program and looked into the requirements. I didn't have all the prerequisites but I figured a year doing the prerequisites at a local school could set me on the right track.
Unfortunately, all my choices during my undergrad, also known as changing my major 50 times and a few uncontrollable circumstances, my GPA isn't great. Okay, but not great. Not great enough for the PA program, but it is so CLOSE.
I went to the info session to find out more and talked to the professor after. He told me that it wasn't worth my time or effort because the board won't even look at my application. He suggested I get another undergrad degree in biology or chemistry.
I'm so frustrated. Not with him, or the program but with my past actions. I didn't do well enough, I didn't know what I wanted to do. Now, I'm 1 year post grad and I do know what I want, but I'm not sure how to get there in a reasonable amount of time.
I have finally found something I'm passionate about and WANT to study. I have not been excited about school in so long and now I'm struggling to get in. I'm just kind of bummed, Lot of changes I wished I made back then, but I had no intention of going back to school after graduation.
I could go to nursing school and complete an accelerated program. I could go back to an undergrad program and complete a 2nd one. Or I can find work with the degree I have and figure out life from there.
How can I figure out which is the best choice? Is this the next big thing I just want to do today? How do I know this is the correct choice?
Also, tomorrow is my birthday and I hate that I'm in this mood because of this.
