Low definition

The world had gone a little blurry with rain.

Looking out the window, we hardly recognised our own garden. It was a whirl of green and brown; a stark contrast with the sharp lines indoors. The reflections of our faces were judging us from every metal surface in the kitchen. We looked away to our laptop screens, but they shone so brightly that they gave us a headache. Only the falling drops cut through the silence.

We needed to talk. We both knew it, and yet we'd rather avoid such painful clarity.
