LOT Rewrite: Episode 1 @lotrewrite

Last month (well, for the past several months really), I participated in the LoT rewrite for season two and when I did, I wrote in a character to the Camelot episode called Ystina, who was destined to become the Shining Knight. A lot of people really dug the character. When I tossed out how I was thinking of writing a spin off, there were a few cheers of "DO IT!"

So... I wanna do the thing.

I have a kind of general idea of where I want to go for a first, virtual season of The Shining Knight, but a lot to still work out. One of the things I also realized was that I really, really enjoyed working on this project as a group (it inspired in me feelings out "waaaaa? ENJOYED a group project? Impossible!" and "Man, I really need to find a creative writing group/class here in town, because I have missed this.")

Here's my think, which may be adjustable depending on what results from this post: I was thinking a twelve, maybe thirteen, episode season to start, so I'm looking for

5-12 writers to help me out in writing this (more if we start planning for a larger season)

If you don't think you can commit to writing, but would like to help brainstorm, that would also be appreciated. I have some ideas for the over all plot of a few seasons, including the first, but it's stll a little muddled. 

If you like running these sorts of things I would not be opposed to people being admins and assistant admins

November would be a sort of planning/meet up/outline month as I'm doing NaNoWriMo, and I'm sure many other people are too. Reply to this post if you're interested in writing, brainstorming, admining and we'll see where we end up.

Summary:

They've escaped Doomworld, but the Legion still has the Spear and the fate of the world is at stake. Will a fractured team of Legends be able to stop the Legion from destroying the world again? And if so, at what cost?

Teaser:

Mick ducks into the next room instead of continuing forward. When he looks out ahead, there are more guards coming from each side.

They’re cornered.

“Not good,” Mick says.

“How is your gun on charge?” Oculus!Len asks, sounding concerned.

Mick checks. “Iffy,” he says, then shrugs. “It’ll be fine.”

“Not against the numbers we’re dealing with,” Oculus!Len says.

“I mean it, though,” Mick says. “It’s fine. You know that I always wanted to go out in a blaze of glory. Having you around’s just extra.”

“As someone who’s been there, done that, it’s not as fun as it sounds,” Oculus!Len says. “All things considered, I’d rather you didn’t die.”

Mick appears unconcerned. “Then come up with a plan.”

“I’m working on it!” Oculus!Len snaps. “What do you want me to do, snap my fingers and summon you a miracle?”

He snaps his fingers in Mick’s face.

There’s a roar of engines and they both turn to see the rooftop exit door get blasted open, the Waverider hovering outside and firing its lasers, causing the guards to scatter.

“That works,” Mick says, and dashes forward.

Teaser:

The crew, except for STEIN, are casually lounging around the bridge. SARA is draped across the captain’s chair, RIP and RAY are sprawled on the bench-like structures, AMAYA is sitting and reading The Two Towers with JAX looking over her shoulder, and MICK is sitting on the floor eating chips, leaning his head on a chair, with O!LEN cross-legged beside him.

LILY rushes in and says, “Guys! I’ve found the last spear piece, and you won’t believe where it is!”

Sara sits up, saying, “Oh, thank god, finally. Where is it?”

Lily says, “Hollywood, year 2200. Gideon said it’s the holofilm--holographic film--capital of the world!”

“Maybe this time we’ll dress as movie stars,” Amaya says, putting her book down and sitting up with an interested look.

...

Sara says, “2200s Hollywood, here we come!”

The Waverider makes a jump and arrives in completely black darkness.

“Okay then, that’s not weird at all,” Jax says, looking out the window.

...

Amaya asks, “Where are we?”

Suddenly, flashing lights and blaring, obnoxious music erupts, seemingly out of nowhere, and the Legends find themselves in the center of a stadium, with a vast audience looking down at them. They see two strangely dressed people [the hosts] standing on a screen-lined stage, gesturing at them and proclaiming, accompanied by the roar of the crowd, “Let’s all give a biiiiiig welcome to… the LEGENDS OF TOMORROW!”

Summary:  The Legends have managed to regather upon the Waverider but the Legion still has one of their own and the Spear of Destiny. Time is on no one’s side as the Legends rush to obtain the Spear. The Legion have their own plans in motion and they’re done playing around.(Episode 21 of a full 22-episode rewrite of season two - the same board story arc, but rewritten episodes)

Teaser: 

“They’re moving the spear,” Oculus!Snart warns as he suddenly appears next to Mick.

“Where to?” Mick asks without really thinking about who could be listening in on them.

“Gotham. By truck to make it less easy to assault midtransport with the Waverider,” Oculus!Snart explains unhappily. “Why do all the good valuables move to Gotham? It’s not like it’s any safer there.”

“Mick, you okay there?” Ray asks cautiously, no one else quite willing to ask.

“Snart’s just telling me where they’re taking the Spear. Gotham,” Mick explains with as much distaste as Oculus!Snart. Gotham’s valuables are never worth the competition or pissing off the Families. The city’s new infestation of heroes made it even worse.

“Did you two give each other a psychic bond with the Spear?” Jax asks, trying to puzzle it all out.

“No,” Mick says but halts at explaining further, glancing at Oculus!Snart for suggestions.

Oculus!Snart shrugs. “Damned if ya do, damned if you don’t.”

“I’ve been seeing a ghost of Snart for a while now. The Oculus must have done something to him. Didn’t think he was real until he punched his past self and it hit,” Mick explains unhappily, knowing how crazy it sounds.

“You believe Mr. Snart has become some kind of Time Wraith?” Rip suggests, looking like he doesn’t completely think Mick is crazy. “I suppose it’s possible with all the temporal energy Mr. Snart was exposed to at the explosion.”

“You believe him?” Sara asks skeptically.

Summary

Mick and Nate travel to Antioch on the Orontes during the First Crusade to rescue Stein and Jax. Before they arrive, however, interference from Stein in the quest to retrieve a special relic puts the whole of the Crusades – and history as it’s known – at risk. Meanwhile, Ray struggles to survive being stranded in the Cretaceous Period.

Teaser

Leaves thunder underfoot as Ray races through the forest on trembling legs.

His heart hammers in his throat, lungs searing with the strain of exertion. The air is humid and thick, the smell of wood rot and fecal matter and sickly sweet flowers long extinct in Ray’s time choking him as he tries desperately to draw in air.

The ground shakes under Ray’s feet, and the ungodly screech of the Tyrannosaurus Rex approaching fast sends a shock of adrenaline so intense through his system, he nearly vomits with it.

“Come on, come on, come on,” Ray mutters to himself, a waste of breath, but just the mantra he needs to kick his body into high gear.

Ray takes a turn down a sharp embankment, hoping to lose the T. Rex by veering off a straight path. He’s spent too many years ducking bullets and photon blasters – projectiles, man-made, fallible against evasive countermeasures. Dinosaurs aren’t as simple to dodge.  

The momentum sliding down the embankment throws off Ray’s balance. He stumbles, catches his foot on an upended root, and goes down hard, body hitting the earth with a sickening smack . White hot pain shoots through his body like electricity through a lightning rod. Ray bites through his lip holding back a scream, tastes the familiar metal tang of blood on his tongue.

The T. Rex screeches again, the ground trembling harder as every thumping step brings it closer to its next meal.
