Charlize Theron - The Night When Everything Changed
2 years earlier
Charlize's POV
Another late night of filming with y/n for our movie. Sitting in my trailer on "break" since we finished for the night, but I have to be back at 4 am to go back and film with y/n, and since it's 2 am now, there's no point in going to the hotel.
I need air, I get up off the sofa in the trailer and head outside to the edge of the set.
What I wasn't expecting to see is y/n walking towards her car, which happened to be a half-meter behind me. She's still in costume, twirling her car keys between her fingers. Gosh, she's beautiful.
It's no secret in the cast that I had a massive crush on her, even though I tried to hide it. It doesn't matter anyway, after all, she mostly spent her time avoiding me like the plague, and when we were forced to talk to each other, she barely ever said anything. She always rushed off set to avoid me. I can't lie and say that it doesn't hurt that she clearly hates me, but I don't want to make her hate me any more than she already does, so I steer clear when I can.
Tonight, though, with the late filming, it's not possible, and with her now about 30 steps away from me, she has finally noticed that I'm here.
"What are you doing here?" She asks
"I wanted some air, and my feet led me here. What about you?"
"I was gonna take a quick nap in my car since it's closer than my trailer."
"Ahh, got it. It's been a long day."
"Yes, it has."
"Yeah, well, I'll get out of your hair. I know you don't really like talking to me. So go and enjoy your nap. I'll see you soon," I turn around, ready to make my way back to my trailer.
"What?!" She snaps, bewildered, "Who told you that?" I turn back towards her, taken aback by her sudden boldness. She's never been anything but quiet around me and avoidant of me.
"Well, isn't it obvious? You barely talk to me, you avoid me most of the time, you barely even look at me!" I fully turn around and step a little closer to her.
She bites her lip and looks away again, fidgeting with one of her rings. "That's not... true," She whispers.
"Please, you're doing it right now!" I point out.
"That's not why I'm doing it!" She shoots back, nervous, like she was offended that I'd ever thought something like that about her.
"Oh, well then, please enlighten me. Why do you avoid me?"
"Well, I don't want to bother you."
"Bullshit!" I yell, frustrated. I see her flinch slightly, but she plays it off. Concern runs through me.
"It's true, Charlize." She whispers
"We both know that's not true! Tell me the real reason!"
"Fine... maybe I just- like you, okay?" She tries to keep her voice steady and not waver, but it breaks on her in the middle of the sentence, barely managing to get the rest of it out.
Shock courses through me. I couldn't believe what I just heard. And it looked like she couldn't believe she said it either, her gaze pointed firmly at her feet.
"You... you like me?" I ask
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything," she quickly yelps out, side-stepping me to get to her car.
I reach out, catching her hand before she can reach it, suddenly face-to-face with her, much closer than we've ever been. I hear her draw in a sharp breath and then notice she stops breathing altogether, eyes blown wide, waiting for my next move, looking me straight in the eyes, before her gaze slips to my lips.
I muster all the courage I have and close the gap between us, kissing her. She seems stunned for a moment before she leans into it, but when she does, she doesn't spare a single moment, cupping my face with her hand, pulling me in, as I bring my hand into her hair and, letting her hand go, against the small of her back. With her now free hand, she grabs me by the collar of my shirt and quickly turns me around to press me against her car.
My mouth opens in shock, which she takes advantage of licking into it, biting my lower lip with her canines, making me whimper. She quickly pulls back.
"Sorry," She whispers
"No, it's ok. let's go to my trailer, it's closer than yours?" She nods. I take her hand with a smile, and we rush to my trailer. We stumble inside and sit on the sofa after closing the door. Once I've sat down, she curls into my side.
"So you avoided me because you like me?" I ask while running my hand through her hair.
"I did. I'm sorry. I just didn't want to bother you, and you didn't seem to want to talk to me, so I left you alone."
"Oh, honey, I'm sorry I should've made more of an effort."
"No, it's ok, Char, you have a lot on your plate."
"No, it's not ok. My darling, I've liked you for a while now, and I should've confronted you about avoiding me sooner."
"It's ok, Char. I promise it's ok. We're here now."
"We are, and nothing will stop us from being together."
Y/n's POV
"So that's how you two got together?"
"Yes, two years ago today. I cornered her, and we finally figured things out, leading us here."
"I'm glad you did, Mum, otherwise we wouldn't have Mama," Jacks says.
"Yeah, thank you, mum, I love mama."
"Aww, girls, I love you both as well. And I'm glad your Mum cornered me."
"Ok, girls, it's late and past your bedtime, so it's time for you two to sleep. We'll see you in the morning." Char says softly, kissing the girls on the head. Char holds my hand as we exit the bedroom.
"Good night, my dears, see you tomorrow," I whisper before shutting the door. Char turns to me, kissing me softly, before we walk to our room.
"I'm so glad we worked things out."
"Me too."
"The girls love you almost as much as I love you."
"Well, I will always love you."
"As will I my dear."
