It was late in the evening after a long day of training, and you were about to head back to your room when Reo appeared, grinning like he was up to something. “Hey, mind helping me out with a quick favor?” he asked, his tone light and innocent—too innocent.

You raised an eyebrow, knowing Reo’s schemes all too well by now. “What kind of favor?”

“Oh, nothing much.” He shrugged casually, but his eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. “Just helping me carry some equipment to the storage room. Nagi’s already in there waiting.”

That last part caught your attention. “Nagi’s… waiting?”

“Yep,” Reo said, steering you in the direction of the storage room. “I’ll be right behind you.”

You followed, a little suspicious but figuring it was harmless. As you stepped into the storage room, you immediately spotted Nagi, leaning against a shelf with his usual relaxed expression. He glanced up at you, his eyes softening in that casual, unreadable way of his.

Just as you were about to ask where the equipment was, the door clicked shut behind you. You turned around to see Reo’s grinning face through the small glass panel on the door.

“Reo!” you called out, hurrying back to the door. “What are you doing?”

He tapped the glass with a wink. “I figured you two could use a little alone time. Don’t worry—I’ll let you out… eventually.”

You shot him a glare, but it only made him laugh as he walked off down the hall. With a sigh, you turned back to Nagi, who looked just as puzzled as you were. “Guess we’re stuck here,” he murmured, a slight smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.

You tried to ignore the flutter in your chest as you leaned against the wall. “Looks like it.”

A silence settled over you both, and you could feel the weight of it—like there was something unsaid hanging between you. Nagi glanced over, his gaze thoughtful. “Reo’s always meddling, isn’t he?”

You chuckled. “Yeah, he definitely has his moments.”

He nodded, shifting a little closer to you. “Not that I mind,” he added softly, his voice barely above a whisper. “It’s kinda… nice.”

Your heart skipped a beat at the unexpected tenderness in his words. “You think so?”

“Mm-hmm.” He looked down, almost shyly, his usual laziness giving way to something softer. “I mean, I don’t really go out of my way to be around people… but with you, it’s… different.”

Your cheeks warmed, and you found yourself smiling. “Well, that’s good to know. I… I like being around you too.”

The two of you stood there, the quiet of the room settling around you as Nagi looked at you, his gaze soft and a bit vulnerable. Slowly, he reached out, his fingers brushing against yours in a way that felt both cautious and deliberate.

“Guess we have some time to kill,” he murmured, his thumb tracing small circles on the back of your hand. His touch was gentle but sent a spark through you, making it impossible to focus on anything else.

You didn’t pull away. Instead, you took a step closer, your heart pounding as you looked up at him. “I don’t mind that either.”

The space between you seemed to disappear, and in that quiet moment, you both knew this was just the beginning of something deeper.

Reo's plan to leave you two alone backfired—or maybe succeeded better than he even expected.

As the lock on the storage room door clicked open, you quickly pulled your hand away from Nagi’s, heat rushing to your face. Reo strolled in, trying to hide a grin as his gaze bounced between the two of you, clearly noting the pink tinge on your cheeks and the lingering closeness between you and Nagi.

"About time," you muttered, attempting to brush past Reo, but he was quicker, blocking your exit with an easygoing smile.

"Aw, don't be like that! You should be thanking me for giving you both a little break," he teased, giving you a knowing look. “Besides, looks like it went better than expected.”

Nagi, as unfazed as ever, just shrugged. “Yeah, it was fine,” he said nonchalantly, casting you a quick, subtle look that sent butterflies swirling in your stomach.

“Glad to hear it.” Reo smirked, stepping aside. “Now, since I’ve had to drag you two out here, we’ve got no time to waste—we’re up against Team Z in, oh…” he checked his watch dramatically, “about twenty minutes?”

Your heart skipped a beat. “Twenty minutes? Reo!”
