I think demon Lotor should sniff out this desperate man called Jiang Cheng, get his soul in exchange of reviving his kid nephew Jin Ling, and then just proceed to hang around, because why not? He's lonely bored and he should make sure the guy won't try to weasel himself out of the deal, right?
It's not his fault that Jin Ling is adorably bratty and that Jiang Cheng is cute and that he's equally as lonely bored as him.
It's not his fault that this family of two is so warm compared to his own that he finds himself yearning to be part of it and reluctant to take Jiang Cheng's soul to hell.
