No one can hear you deep in the ocean. Everywhere is all dark blue. Once you’re far away from the mainland, there is nothing but dark azure water surrounding your helpless soul. If you can’t even swim or stay afloat, you begin to sink lower than a regular anchor could never reach. That’s what a young blond man was exactly doing now, sinking like a very dense stone.
He wore a white tunic, sleeves rolled up over elbow, and beige breeches, almost big on him. His feet were bare, common shoes would have only brought him down faster. He kept flailing his arms up and down, the movement similar to bird wings flapping. Desperately trying to break free from the endless and engulfing blue.
His eyes were wide open, his jaw slightly agape. His lungs quickly filled with ocean water, as if they were soon about to burst. He could already feel the searing burn inside his chest and his vision soon became dark.
“No…” a faint whisper somehow rang clearly in his ear. His eyes slowly blinked open to another figure in front of him. Still blurry, all he could make out was curly flowing locks the color of tangled kelp, and luminous eyes the shade of peridot.
He felt two arms gently wrapped around his torso, an embrace similar to a mother tending to her own scared child. His brown eyes then shut tight.
The wind blew through the youth’s golden locks, the stars brightly shone upon the sea, the sand glowed white like fresh polished pearls.
COUGH! COUGH! COUGH! The boy sat up and heaved out the trapped sea water from his sore chest. Once he was done, a hand gently cupped the back of his head, and gently lowered it onto a smooth slab of driftwood.
His eyes slowly blinked open, until he was staring back into the eyes of one young girl.
Her shoulder length emerald hair was gently tussled by the nightly gales behind her semi tan face. She let out a soft breath in relief and slowly blinked her peridot eyes. Her upper torso was wrapped in an interesting pine colored and short sleeved crop top.
Steadily inhaling and exhaling, the boy kept his calm towards his peculiar rescuer.
“Th-Thank you.” He weakly croaked.
“You’re welcome,” was her murmur, while covering him with large tropical tree leaves.
“Please rest, I have to go.”
The boy faintly heard the sound of fish scales, gently grazing against the wet sand.
“Who are you?” His question made the girl freeze.
“I’m just an illusion,” she turned back to him.
“I’ll be gone once you’re awake.”
“I don’t think an illusion would have brought me to land,” The boy weakly retorted as his eyes began to slowly blinked open again.
“My name is Alex, what’s yours?” he whispered to her.
It was silent for a small moment, only the waves softly stroked the sand filled shore.
“…It’s Lorna.” was her final whisper.
Alex softly heard the sound of someone slipping back into the water. He then closed his eyes to the sound of the tides rising and ebbing on the ivory sand.
This will be the first of some one shots that I plan to write for this AU!
