(𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺?)⁣ ⁣ I experimented a lot with YES last year, stretching into possibilities and curiosity and learning *what* I wanted to say yes to and what I didn’t. ⁣ ⁣ I learned that YES could be easy, and I learned what made it easy for me:⁣ ⁣ ✔️ I don’t feel conflicted or manipulated (there is 𝘯𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥).⁣ ✔️ I am 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 about the final outcome.⁣ ✔️ I have capacity (physical, financial, emotional).⁣ ✔️ I am free to 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴.⁣ ✔️ I feel more connected saying YES than saying no.⁣ ⁣ _____⁣ ⁣ Lately, it feels like it’s getting harder to say YES. I can feel people locking down into NO with our brains telling us it’s safer. I think this is the burden our generation carries now after 2020 took us DEEP into surviving on lockdown.⁣ ⁣ But remember? We said so much YES in those NOs. We said yes to…⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ 👉🏻 more rest⁣ 👉🏻 more growth ⁣ 👉🏻 more choices ⁣ 👉🏻 more kindness ⁣ 👉🏻 more healing ⁣ 👉🏻 more connection ⁣ 👉🏻 more compassion ⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ And even in lockdown, we said yes to love and curiosity and even laughter and joy. When everything around us was strained and sad and worried and difficult, we said 𝘺𝘦𝘴. ⁣ ⁣ _____⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Today my first easy YES is to sunlight. To sitting in it, really seeing it, letting it in, puttering in it.⁣ ⁣ And I have a second YES today, a bit more challenging, but still ticking all my boxes above: I am saying yes to simplifying. This is my favorite corner in my house. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I carved it out in 2020, in the room where the morning light filters through the eucalyptus tree that drapes its tall self haphazardly over our driveway, making lace out of my shadows, magicking what should be just an ordinary space. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If we leave—when we leave—I think this corner will be my hardest goodbye. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A few of you have met me here (Zoom calls are a wonder, aren’t they?); I have met myself here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s a good space. A safe space. Anything can happen in this little spot: vision-casting, dreaming, journaling, coaching, cat-cuddling, copywriting, meditating—I’ve even done candle-making (and burned a hole in the curtain when a taper fell into it on a call with @sallyhardie_coach ! This is where I ask myself, “what if you did…” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you have a space like this, where things become true for you because YOU get to fill it up for you? Is it a physical space? 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. Or at least, 𝘐 do.⁣ ⁣ I used to be a planner. ⁣ ⁣ When I started 7th grade, I had my whole closet color-coded and numbered by hanger, and an outfit guide set by number for the first three weeks of school.⁣ ⁣ I kept calendars for this and calendars for that.⁣ ⁣ In college, planning was my lifeline, until I realized that my real lifeline was the time I planned to take off.⁣ ⁣ That’s when I discovered that planning isn’t everything.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes you’ve just got to be in the world and let things happen. Some surprises are good surprises. And there’s so much room out there for you to take up space.⁣ ⁣ _____⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I’m living into that this week. ⁣ ⁣ I made a website about what I do and I didn’t plan a launch. (I’m not totally incompetent—I do plan them for my clients, but I just make sure we have squishy nights off baked in. 😅) ⁣ ⁣ I surprised myself with the launch timing (yay @tonicsiteshop for making THAT easy after months of work on my content!).⁣ ⁣ And now I’m 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 taking up space I didn’t quite plan on in an entrepreneurial world I didn’t plan to love.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes you just get to point yourself at something and throw all that smart stuff into the wind and see what takes off.⁣ ⁣ This week, for me?⁣ ⁣ It’s this really cool thing I’ve felt my way into.
